The end of flash

Post by sirauron14 » Tue Jul 03, 2012 6:51 pm

Some of you may have heard that flash is coming to an end on mobile devices and adobe will be pushing towards HTML 5, i would like to know how that will work, will they replace flash with HTML 5 plugins or something? I'm sick of my flash crashing all the time. What will happen in the upcoming months with flash on PC's?

Because Adobe did a crappy job (on purpose?) with Flash, seeing how they are canceling support for mobile devices, they will most likely cancel support for the PC version as well, if not now, in the foreseeable future. (This is just my opinion based on little to no hard facts.)

Well, faster they do it, and people adopt the new technology, happier will be people like me, and many linux user. Flash was not open source... On some distribution of Linux, Flash was not included... I wonder what will replace Flash, if it will available to all user of GNU+Linux without extra step... (I mean, with distribution with no flash, we could have flash with some extra step, extra download, getting new repo, on update, its another history, dependency problem when we update system because its not from official repo...)

Your post makes no sense at all.
There are some open source flash interpeters, such as frash for iOS and other unofficial Linux interpeters.
Flash was available to all Linux users with a download on Adobe's website.
"New technology" is HTML5 and you're already using it if you have an updated browser.

Yes, like I said, we can download it from adobe, but try to update a fedora distribution with flash installed from adobe... Will mess up with dependency and lot of other thing. Yeah, there is alternative, but when going to internet, on you-tube, and the video is slow, you wonder whether its GNASH that its slow, or if its internet. Because the open-source alternative are not fast and stable, and have more bug than the one made by Adobe.

It's difficult to tell when you go to YouTube, for instance, that the poor performance isn't a network problem rather than a Gnash problem.
