I literally just started playing minecraft about a week ago and it's pretty addictive.

I started by watching a guy named ImAnderZEL on YouTube (check out his channel he's hilarious and does a lot of custom maps) and then I got the game and I haven't done much else but play that (my PSP is ice cold sitting in my nightstand )

Has anyone seen 1.9 prerelease 2 yet? looks pretty cool (sadly almost none of the cool mods work on it yet)

@DisturbedOne I actually tried out 1.9 prerealease 2, it had some cool features like animal breeding, more music discs, building stuff out of netherrack, a Nether castle, and even mushroom infected cows although I switched back because of the lack of mod support at the moment.

I am currently playing 1.9_pre2 on a private server with a friend, and i have no problem with mods not being available since i don't use them (prefer vanilla). Also doing the SkyBlock survival map in SSP

I really hope that notch stop adding things and start fixing bugs and improving performance, i went from 35 fps on 1.7.3 to 8 fps in 1.8-1.9 , now i am forced to play with short rendering distance so i can't see the sun/moon anymore

im the same. i usually play on a private server i set up for coworkers and friends, pure vanilla.

this. i also hope they stop making changes that require you start a new map to experience them. i don't mind starting a new single player map to mess around in, but as far as multiplayer goes, i really wish they could make changes without us losing all the work we've put in.

at this point i'm really not sure which direction the game is going. i liked a lot of the 1.8 updates (like villages, abandoned mineshafts, etc.) but i think a lot of the more recent changes aren't going to add much to the game (i really dont care about breeding, potions, etc.). it seems to me like they had something that worked great, now they're picking things out of a hat to add and it seems to have a negative impact on the game as a whole, imo.

but its still a great game

Yeah, I got some lag issues with 1.9 as well, but it wasn't too bad, at least for me.

I went back to 1.8.1 until after 1.9 full is released (after MineCon), hopefully the mod makers will update the rest of the mods that I use (quite a lot actually, no game breakers but some really cool little things like Rei's minimap, sandstone tools ect.)

(in the end, you cant leave, you only leave when you die, and yeah i hope it gets some attention from notch and isnt like the nether for a few updates :/)

I'm sure Notch will make it so you can leave "The End" otherwise it would be entirely pointless. I think once it's working properly I'm going to build a nice little compound there for a change of pace from the regular world.

Yeah, but i could use it for turture instead of lava :p I've been playing minecraft since 1.4, Its super addictive. there are some really great mods out there too, I like to use Mo Creatures, Its fun to play around with, it just sucks to get mauled by a lion/tiger.

I only play single player for now. I'm not much of a co-op gamer. I prefer to do my own thing while playing Minecraft (and basically every other game).

Yeah. I run my own bukkit-based server. (We support Creative & Survival modes, and you dont have to build w/ other people *wink-wink*)

@codestation, I havent had any apparent FPS Drop, however my minecraft crashes a lot.
