i dont have crysis 2 (tho i might get it soon) so i cant really compare, but IIRC then you are running xp right?

actually i cant really use anything else ... the graphics cards are dx11, if i try to use lower than windows 7, it will definitely affect my system performance greatly :(

besides dx9 doesnt support as good graphics ... ;)

IIRC then your 4750 is a dx10 card ... you might actually get better graphics and fps if you used vista instead (tho i cant really recommend either)

Any card will do ati or nvidia but consider some points....

The higher the memory bandwidth the better...
DDR5 gpu are much faster in compare to same gpu model exp: GT 440 1g ddr5 is much faster than the GT 440 1g ddr3....
Dont buy top of the line GPU because its to expensive...Buy much cheaper but ugraded version of old models but be sure it has all the features of todays gaming needs....

When buying a cutting edge card take a close look at the dimensions. Sometimes these are so large that they won't fit into your PC case. With the high end models you will find that their capacity is much greater than any current games can use. They aren't made for today's games they are made to supply graphic resources to future games. The 2 big graphic card brands are GeForce and Radeon. Some gamers will tell you GeForce is the way to go, while others swear Radeon cards are the best. I recommend trying to match your needs to the card's stats and ignoring the brand.
Sapphire Radeon HD 5970 ATI Video Card
The Sapphire uses ATI Stream technology that accelerates even the most demanding of applications. This card is also able to fully support Microsoft's DirectX 11. It uses cutting edge technology to enhance the performance. This includes advanced 2GB/512-bit GDDR5 memory interface, 40nm Processor Technology, 2nd Generation TeraScale Engine, PCI 2.0 x16 bus interface. These features enhance the performance by providing better speed. It also uses dynamic power management for efficient use of resources. This is done through the ATI PowerPlay technology.
Zotac GeForce GTX 480
The Zotac is NVIDIA's flagship video card. The Zotac uses advanced cinematic effects like motion blur and depth of field. All these factors combine to produce a 3D world that is very realistic. This effect is further reinforced NVIDIA PhysX effects. The NVIDIA Phys on this card runs at twice the speed of previous models. The only problem with this card is the heat management. What that means is that the fan works at 100% at all times and produces a lot of noise. This can be a bit irritating. Water cooling can be used to get rid of the problem. The combination of excellent features delivers amazing performance and graphics. The ray traced 3D rendering enables realistic images. The high speed anti-aliasing ensures that any and all ragged edges are smoothed out.

Even me! But I get 30 fps on resolution 1980x1050 with this config :-

Intel Core i5 2nd Gen
4 GB DDR3 RAM
2 GB Graphic Card with 4.1 Pixel/Vertex Shader...

The fascinating thing is...My Black Ops lags a little with Max-Setting on 1980x1050 resolution and not Crysis 2!

@Alpensopath ... you obviously have no idea what you are talking about!

please abstain from writing useless and/or untrue info here ...

the amount of memory on your video card is really not what does the difference, but rather the actual gpu type ... unless your card is really high end, then theres actually no reason to have 2gb of ram on it, as the card will never actually be benefiting from all that.
your laptop has 2gb of ram, which is way overkill imho and properly just something the oem manufacturer implemented, just to make it sound like it has a lot of power, but it in reality it will never actually use all of that ... the nvidia gtx 580 (which is properly the best single gpu card on the market) comes with 1.5 or 3 gb of ram ... a kinda doubt that any mobile series graphics card can use more vram than any gtx 580, as most of these cards are about half the size of a regular laptop.

theres a reason for that ... iirc then crysis 2 is utilizing a way more advanced graphics engine, that dosnt require as much gpu power, as previous generation of games did.
that is also the reason why you properly cant run crysis 1 at same resolution ;)

I highly recommend NVidia graphics cards over ATI cards most of the time, however ATI tend to release a decent card every once in a while. If you don't have the money for a NVidia graphics card, then do your research before you purchase an ATI card.
