... is not a brand i would recommend anyone ... if i remember correctly they also use via chipsets on MB's, wich is propperbly the worst ever

back to an update on my history:
well ... actually i didnt get my card yet becourse of company with bad costumer and delivery service ... (never using that place again)
however ... my friend was nice enough to lend me his card untill i can get my own (and to then try them in sli before returning it to him  )

imo i think i could have gotten a better deal on a used card as there are many really good cards for sale.
many ppl that are selling cards arent aware or dont realize that there cards could perform better under a diffrent os (eg many are using dx10 cards with xp or maby dx11 cards with vista/xp)

it is very important to use the cards with the correct (or newer) direct x version, as older versions do not support newer cards and will therefore reduce the the performance significantly

... of course a used card would then mean no warrenty for me ... but then again ... im kinda conisdering mounting water cooling on it (even tho its bran new i like to match the rest of my setup) so i cant really rely on warrenty anyway ... of course it will be testet first before i remove the org cooling unit, lol

... but "at least" i can play most games on my 42" at 1080p rez with a decent framerate now :D

I never knew about the MSI thing but I thought of what you said is common sense when I first heard it, ****.

At least you can play decent games now. Sadly, I'm stuck on my sister's laptop with Intel GMA series IGP >_>

I used to remember buying a 7600GT with an aftermarket fan for $45 from my cousin, which is about 4-5 years ago.

MSI makes very good mobos. it only uses VIA chipsets on low class mobos IIRC. I got one and it's probably best mobo I ever had.
I wanna lots of mov al,0xb

well you are the first one i hear about, who has i nice msi board ... IMHO i would never consider buying anything msi just by personal experience

but i guess most manufactures has a high class line up, wich isnt bad at all ...

my love is just for asus ... i love my striker 2 nse  .. best board i ever had and im even trying to find something like it for socket 1155 (for a resonable price  )

untill then ill propperbly be looking out for a qx9770 to fit in this one ...

well i have a little update on this ...

i got kinda sick of major fps drop, when playing demanding games, and therefore i decided a few weeks ago, that i would buy a bran new gtx 570, just to step it up a notch. :P

... and a few days ago i had the money to do it, but lucky for me, someone had just put this up for sale, just as i was about to order ... so i got a used 580 (only a few months old) for the price of a 570, lucky me. :D

none the less, i must say that i am "a bit" disappointed in the performance of this card. i might have maby had too big expectations, but im about to add the 550 ti as a dedicated physx card, to see if and how much that will boost the performance.

my conclusion on this is: if you want good graphics for reasonable price, buy a 550 ti/560 ti, preferably 560 ti if you can afford it, it seems well worth the extra cash compared to 550 ti, and you will get a lot for your moneys worth there and IMO those are probably best buy for now ...

ill write an update once i tried the physx thing ... ;)

Maybe the problem is not in your video card but somewhere else... What are your full specs?

Q9650 @ 3,6ghz 1600fsb
ASUS striker 2 nse + 8 gb 1600mhz ram
random seagate 2tb
random 1000w power supply and
the gtx 580 as the main gpu and 550 ti as physx processor for now ...

and that actually worked over my expectations, i just went from an average of about 30 fps to about 45-50 on max settings in mafia 2 ... i must say i am already positively surprised by this ... i definitely didnt expect that much of an increase in performance.

i think my bottleneck for now is my 775 cpu and chipset ... maby its time to switch to an i7, tho i did promised my self not to before 6 core becomes the standard :?

well as it is intended for gaming only, the main os is obviously windows ;) ... in this case, windows 7

tho i do have a secondary disk (with ubuntu installed) in it as well  ... but unfortunatly power is not cheap in denmark,i therefore have a second pc, with a low power consumption, that i tend to use for everyday use like surfing, skype and so on.

Strange enough because I get 30 fps on Crysis 2 max settings with this config:

Core 2 Duo E8400 3 GHz
4 GiB RAM @ 1333 MHz
MSI gaming mobo
Couple of SATA HDs
ATI Radeon 4750 (IIRC) 1 GiB
I wanna lots of mov al,0xb
