UMDGen Problem!

Post by x_Yuuno_x » Thu Feb 06, 2014 3:00 am

So, I'm trying to use UMDGen V4 on Windows 7 Home Premium.

Although, when I try to start the program (even with Run as Admin), it loads but never comes up.

I've checked the processes to see if it's even coming up.
The program shows up in the processes for a few seconds, then disappears.

Does anyone know what's going on? Anyway way to fix it?

I assume you have the latest .net framework? On my Windows 7 it works fine
(Windows 7 Home x64)

Also works on Arch via WINE

Yes, I always try to make sure they're always updated.

What are those exactly? I've never heard of either.

Arch and WINE? Archlinux is a GNU/Linux distrobution and as for WINE well
Wine (originally an acronym for "Wine Is Not an Emulator") is a compatibility layer capable of running Windows applications on several POSIX-compliant operating systems, such as Linux, Mac OSX, & BSD. Instead of simulating internal Windows logic like a virtual machine or emulator, Wine translates Windows API calls into POSIX calls on-the-fly, eliminating the performance and memory penalties of other methods and allowing you to cleanly integrate Windows applications into your desktop.

Ah, okay.

Is there any other programs I could use instead of UMDGen? I can't find any fixes at all for my problem and I'm trying to use it to merge files for Final Fantasy Type-0's discs.

Why exactly do you need UMDGen to do? if you just need it to extract the files from the ISO then 7zip or winrar can do it

AFAIK, you don't even need 7z or winrar, because if I remember correctly (I may be wrong!), you can just rename the .iso extension to .zip and open it as a zip archive via Windows. I faintly remember doing such a thing when I had no internet.

I need UMDGen to merge the two discs for Final Fantasy Type-0.

The instructions are here;

While they might not support piracy they are distributing files from the game itself :/
while yes its not the full game and can't be played without having the full game its still copyrighted not for distribution material

Anywho one guy in the comments said you should get the real UMDGen so here is the one I use
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/880 ... ENv400.zip

Don't know where you got yours but I know this one works

Just to let you know the only real thing missing if you know what you are doing is missing is lib.prx files so I see your reasoning and why I have not posted links to it myself
