4 years old isn't too bad, I run win 8 fine on intel graphics, 1 GB RAM is also okay, I don't know about if the Atom processor matters, however you should see if you can raise the screen resolution, if you can't, you need drivers, for that you'll have to go to the intel website, they have a tool which can tell you which drivers you need.

Atom sucks, my mom's laptop is a tiny 2 year old Lenovo with 1 GB RAM & Windows 7 Starter... It takes like 3 minutes to completely boot & about 1 minute to open something after the boot. It's too dang slow! Like it runs NFS Underground 2 with the most optimized graphic settings at about 10 FPS. It has no disc drive too.

when your booting Just press the f1 to f9 tell you see a factory rest screen, this should run normally again I did that with mine and made me happy .

Lolz, it came like that from the beginning, plus my mom doesn't have anything installed except Chrome, Skype, & AVG. Maybe AVG is slowing it down, butit came pre-installed along with Adobe Reader. I installed NFS from USB.

Just wanted to say that Windows 8 will get even MORE drivers than Windows 7.

Crysis doesn't have that much great effects as Battlefield though.
I can run both on high but Battlefield has less FPS for me.

I also have 2 great computers. My 1st one's index rating is 7.7 and the other one is 5.5
