You DO realise that Windows RT is not Windows 8 (although they may look similar and Ms claims that it is a tablet windows 8)?
In fact,RT is ARM exclusive.
Now back on topic (

)
Unless you have a touch supported screen,I would stay away from anything related to MUI (does not work well without touch screen)
Instead,I would just try to find desktop versions of the stuff I need (the Windows 8 desktop enviroment is the same as Windows 7 with a lack of Aero).If it had better mouse config,I would even consider using it...since it does look interesting.
I can safely say that Microsoft did a good job on this OS.It boots out of the box with good boot and loading times.Also,I did not have to install most of hw drivers,since they were there already (they did not need an update back when I first installed 8).Well,as I could not stand not having a start menu,I just installed classic shell (because it was the only one not bishing up when I tried to configure it

)
It is also pretty stable.Like I said in some other thread,I only got crashes when I touched stuff I shouldn't had (tinkering with clock speeds and various drivers et cetera)
As fun as win 8 is, it certainly isn't the os for developers of any sort

I think it's not the os even for normal user's, I made my dad try and use it (p.s: he knows how to use a windows 7 and under computer easily) He failed badly, not knowing how to do the basic features. I had the same problem, which nor me or my dad have had when we first tried windows 98,2000, xp , vista, 7.
They focused too much on the visual aspects of the system, not really caring about the Interfaces and how (not) simple they are for anyone

You're right, I spent an hour searching where to shutdown until I found out it was a too easy place (& thought

I still don't know where it is, The best way that i found to turn it off was to actually use the power button

Indeed,it is not.It is highly optimised for the best user experience without having to do pretty much anything.
For devs I would definetely recommend some Linux OS,usually arch...

I got a program called Start8 which is really cool for Windows 8, it does things that older versions of Windows do but not Windows 8. But I agree that Windows 8 isn't for devs, as it immediately crashes.
BTW the task manager is great in Windows 8, & everything is fixed & easy.

Yes, maybe he is referring to some development tools, CRYEngine 3 crashes immediately on Win 8, I believe Unity3d doesn't officially support Windows 8 yet? and lots more

Hey guys,
Maybe this is an late update, but the problem is allready found... It's an Packard bell Dot S2... What will mean, that it's the worst PC I ever had...
It has an Intel Atom processor...
It has only 1gb RAM memory...
It has an Intel graphics card... (Unfortunately, I don't know the exact type...)
And it is an 4 year old laptop, so it was designed to run windows 7 starter... Not Windows 8 pro...
Thx for helping!
Things learned from this site:
-Do not pirate, it will keep game developers from developing games...
-Hacking to play an back-up of your own game = O.K....
-READ THE F*****G RULES!!!

So, some things now:
4 years old isn't too bad, I run win 8 fine on intel graphics, 1 GB RAM is also okay, I don't know about if the Atom processor matters, however you should see if you can raise the screen resolution, if you can't, you need drivers, for that you'll have to go to the intel website, they have a tool which can tell you which drivers you need.
