Steam game dissapered?

Ok, so I bought Portal 2 a while back on PC, installed fine etc.

The problem is that it has dissapeared from my account today after I played Modern warfare 2 with my friend on my computer on his account, and when I logged back into my account after he left, the game was gone. when I try to reinstall it, it says the CD key has already been used - ofcourse it has, on the same account that I am trying to reinstall it on.

I have emailed the support team, and I am waiting for a reply.

so my question is: Does Steam have a good support team? Do they understand situations like this? Should I panic?

I dont have steam.

Try searching for the game and repurchasing it. If it says itll charge, dont do it unless it says something like price is 0$. Try using the program or

Does anybody here have any experience with the steam support? I just want to know how long it takes them to reply. its been a day and nothing has happened. And yes, I have seen the Portal 2 page and it says I have to buy it again.

I've been using Steam for a while now and I've never had anything like this happen to me (I have 61+ games on Steam).

Have you tried checking the Steam forums for anything similar to your situation to see if a solution has already been found?

I would check the forums first and if you can't find anything you could always try uninstalling Steam and re installing it. I've had some minor issues before, nothing as big as a game disappearing from my library and a re installation always did the trick.

I wish you luck in retrieving your game. I'm sure Steam will fix the issue for you, They've always done right by me since the day I installed it (circa 2010).

While you're at it come check out my Steam ID thread and post your Steam ID, maybe we share some games with multiplayer so we can play in the future.

Yeah, I've checked the forums and a few people have had similar problems, but there wasn't much info as to how it was fixed. I guess I'll have to be patient and hope for the best (If worst comes to worst I'll go to EB Games and ask for a replacement or something).

(I really hope I get it back because while I was browsing the forum there was a tutorial on how to play portal spitscreen on pc!)

I honestly think that you'll get the game back, you have the credit card/paypal receipt for it right?

Valve can ban you from multiplayer on games etc but they can't deny you the actual game that you purchased and own.

Just keep being patient, they'll get to you eventually. I can only imagine how many issues and people their staff has to deal with on a daily basis... (Makes me wonder how many actual "real" people use Steam [not counting the fake accounts people make])

after a week, and they fixed the issue! Awesome!

now all I need to do is install it again and then download a 1GB patch (<- I personally think this defeats the good part of physical media, but anyway )

good point, I was just suggesting since the problem was solved
