Re: [PC] Jiun - The retro MMORPG
Nice. Made an account and character to try it out, but here's what I got:
After that I reloaded the game and it runned fine, until at some point I got dc'd.
Also, I would like to know, do you seriously have a facial hair slider or that's an incorrect translation? It's just, I don't think I have seen an MMO put it this way so far.
The only issue I have so far is to an extent with the movement. When I logged in the first time, I remapped the keys, so that W is up, A is left, D is righ, S is down.
Going up/down, then pressing A/D will move me left/right until the button is pressed, then I will resume in my previous direction. This doesn't apply to going left/right however.
Anyways, it's fun, hope to see more of it.

Re: [PC] Jiun - The retro MMORPG
Thanks for reporting! I notice that the alpha is now open and isn't private anymore. It will finally last 1 week. We are doing some tests on the server that can explain why some 'crashes' occur.
Facial hair slider? Currently we have planned to develop a feature which will allow the player to choose some facial details like beard.
About keyboard there are priorities between up/down and left/Wright. Going to note this point, THX.
Hope to see you IG

People do that because 12:00 is ambigious and people tend to ask "is that AM or PM?" Easy to say 11:59PM and there'd be no confusion.noname120 wrote:So precise

Re: [PC] Jiun - The retro MMORPG
Right, I thought of asking about this before, but forgot it. Are you going to implement an auto-walk feature, for example, press a direction key twice fast or something similar? The world so far seemed quite large, especially when compared to character size. Holding down the walk button with the current movement speed seems like too much.
I guess as you implement more features later on, like the inventory, you will add more variety to combat as well. So far, it has been fun, even though I have been on only shortly. I'll try to find time later or tomorrow to try it out more.
Are you going to set up a forum for it? Haven't seen one on the website so far.
Can you consider adding an FPS counter and ping as well?
Will there be an option to download it as well? Running it from the browser seems fine so far though. The point of this is that Java on Linux is a complete pain in the behind because Oracle had the brightest of bright ideas to disallow their jvm from being hosted on distribution repositories. As a result, the one that comes with most distros now is OpenJDK, which has compatibility issues when compared to the official one. Having it will help as I can just use the official JVM run it and not go into the tons of pain that update-alternatives can be. Not to mention that browsers can have issues of their own as well. (Some Flash player updates make Firefox on linux crashtastic.)
From the website, some text changes seem necessary.
When you click on "Play" the first time, it launches the game properly. Clicking it again hides it properly, but changes the text to "Jouer".
Please change the "Connection" link on the website to "Login". It doesn't make much sense as-is.
"adresse" should be spelled "address"
I'm sorry if it's looking like I'm making up non existent or not important problems, just trying to report any issues I come across. So far, it has been a fun and interesting experience, even with me being rather picky.
Edit: and following you on twitter, for as much as I use that thing.
More edits:
Here's the stuff I actually like:
- it's 2D. Yup, 3D is overrated, not sure if you're going to change the sprites more or not, but it's different, and that's important. There's tons of 3D cool-looking MMOs.
- it's not a resource hog. So far it doesn't seem very intensive on my system. Always a good thing.
- The battles are actually fun. I'm a person who is very picky when it comes to pvp and balance issues (incl. pve), and I know that this is still an alpha and a lot more is to come, but I like what I see so far.
- It's written in Java. Most likely, it will run on linux. Haven't tried that yet, because of issues I described.

Re: [PC] Jiun - The retro MMORPG
Actually, you can already do an autowalk by clicking out of the applet screen when walking. It is just 'an unofficial tip'. At the moment it is the only way to auto walk. We have also planned to implement a 'click to move' feature such as in dofus for instance.Xian Nox wrote:Right, I thought of asking about this before, but forgot it. The forum was implemented on the web site but only during the development and has been deleted for the alpha because it wasn't ready.
it will be available in 1 month.
I will allow the player to enable a FPS counter in the interface section into the main menu. Just a checkbox.
Little icons such as 'inventory, 'quests' will be displayed around the character when the mouse hovers it like in Sims
As concern ping it will be displayed too near from the main panel (life, map etc).
When the game will be a little bit much known you will be able to download it, to run it on your desktop.
Thanks for reporting the translation issues. I will communicate it to our web developper.
Thank you very much for reporting!

Re: [PC] Jiun - The retro MMORPG
How does one log into the game? I've yet to receive an email with any details. I also attempted to create an account through the website however; I cannot log in due to the verification email not arriving (I checked my junk folder too).
