That is one of the biggest reason I got a vita. I really look forward to a kernel hack, as I believe that that will make it the best portable. It would be AWESOME to be able to boot up an LXDE debian on vita. I got a vita now, before a "hack", as I know it is often best to have an early one.
[Drools with the mere thought of GNOME3 on the Vita]
I really can't stand gnome3/Unity for a desktop, hince my LXDE preference. However might be nice with a touch based device.

Or maybe that jew ubuntu phone. Might be cool.

I ban you because I like GNOME3 because it gives you the most screen space and it is different from the standard windows-like interface, that is why I love the metro UI but hate Windows 8 (It seems like a rushed masterpiece, too fragile)

My god, I can't even use Metro. That is a big reason I will never get a WinRT tablet. Just horrid. The first Unity release was better.

If I had a x86 tablet, I would have WinXP of Win7 installed for games. Staying away from 8. 8 makes vista look like XP.

Metro with the Aero desktop is quite cool, the thing is, Windows 8 gets damaged too easily (and when it does, it is really hard to recover it)
Somehow within one week of installing it, I managed to break my tiles in Metro UI, they just stopped working. Then, later when I tried to shrink my HDD (which had more than 100 gb free and was defragged) to install Ubuntu, it refused to work, when I used partition magic, it refused to boot

Windows 7 is much harder to break than that. So, I later ended up switching to windows 7 but using a Win8 UX pack

I havn't spent enough time in Win8 to even notice any stability problems, as I can't stand the UI. I really can't. Horrid. I would rather use Andoidx86 over Win8 on my desktop.

I have not EVER encountered a single issue with w8 (well, apart from me playing with settings I shouldn't play  )
After installing the classic shell menu button,I do not really have ANY use for the MUI.
In fact,I have gained noticeable performance boosts, along with almost-Linux boot times, without having to touch ANY of the original settings/features

I have heard it is supposed to be faster, ect. My real problem with Win8 is simply metro. Just like Gnome3 and Unity, WIn8 is a designed for handheld touchscreen deviced. Well, I don't have a touchscreen desktop. A mouse just don't work, and my screen is just to big for it.

Hopefully the Win9 release with be usable, as they seem to release "good" ones only every other time. If not, I can't see Microsoft making it to a Win10 release

Like I said,MUI is purely optional. While yes,it is supposed to be the main feature,I disagree with that. And I do not think that W9 won't be a multi-functional OS similar to 8 (like so many people tend to believe). In fact, there are only 2 ways to go with W9:Either polish up desktop mode (by polish I mean make it closer to classic windows with the start menu and the option to choose wether you will log in MUI or not) or remove the desktop mode altogether, but making MUI more friendly for non-touchscreen devices.Given their approach so far,I'd say the latter is more possible.

Back to topic,if you have a device capable of using something like splashtop effectively, this tablet immediately loses it's shinyness :D
A shame you have to have a sub to be able to access your main pc from outside the network it uses -.-
Well, unless there is a better alternative to Splashtop :D
