Re: iPad syncing help
It shouldn't delete your apps, however it will try to download them. Sync by definition is to make everything the same, so by default iTunes wants to grab everything it can that it understands is OK to grab (things you've downloaded with your AppleID like apps and MP3s. You must have the same AppleID on the computer that is on the iPad.) Even if anything was accidentally deleted, you can retrieve all purchases on your AppleID. Apps: AppStore -> (iPhone: Updates) -> Purchased -> Tap Cloud to reDownload. Music / Video replace AppStore with iTunes store and repeat.shapeshifter wrote:Hey guys need help with my iPad 2 32gb 3G.recently I wanted to transfer photos and some music to it and it struck me that if I connect it via iTunes it may delete the apps I downloaded using the iPad as I don't have them on my laptop and I don't want to download the apps again or transfer it to my pc for syncing.pls help.note-I have not jail broken it in any way or even tried and is running the latest fw iOS 5.1.thanks in advance
Step one here: Find your iTunes preferences (idk where they are on PC, mac its iTunes -> Preferences), Select Devices tab, Check box "Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically." (tldr: iTunes preferences -> Devices -> Check first box. That means iTunes will not automatically do anything when you plug your iPad in, it will wait for you to tell it what to do.
Step two: Plug in iPad, launch iTunes. Check "Sync only checked songs and videos" so you don't blow up your iPad space only with music. Click through the tabs at the top to sync other desired content.
Step three: I've heard that this is different on PC then it is on Mac, but the button you want to click to finalize all this really hopefully should be: APPLY. Worst comes to worst, as long as you leave SYNC APPS unchecked, iTunes shouldn't try to download them, but Apply is the button you want when you are ADDING things to the iPad, not Syncing (making everything the same.)
If you have any more questions or need anymore help lmk.
