Gametel Bluetooth Controller for Android/iOS

Post by Kagero » Mon Apr 16, 2012 4:33 am

I've been keeping an eye on Gametel, a Bluetooth controller for Android/iOS that adds a gamepad while snugly holding your phone.

Unfortunately it's not available yet in the United States, unless I pay over $100 on eBay (opportunists at their best). Does anyone have this seemingly fantastic gadget? I've read some glowing reviews at Amazon in the UK, which makes me green with envy.

I've seen the readily available iControlPad, but it looks hideous. I considered getting the Caanoo to get my retro game fix, but it's hard to justify when I have a Galaxy S II with a beautiful screen that just needs some good buttons. As an aside, only if the Xperia Play 2 was reality...

I had the chance to use one and I wasn't very impressed with it. Maybe it's just me, but the entire thing felt rather...small in my hands. Then again, I have huge hands...but that's besides the point. I'd prefer a PS3 controller/Wii controller over that any day.

That's too bad, but then again, my hands aren't that big. One I can't get it in the States yet, and two there's no way to try it in stores!

I was thinking of fabricating some contraption to attach to a PS3 controller so that I can mount my phone on it. Not very elegant, but it would work.

But after a night of thinking, it occurred to me that while I have new gadgets like Vita and Galaxy S II, I still have my PSP 1000. Time to charge the battery.

I did this with a Wii controller  I made my own little casing for the Wiimote, it had an adjustable slot for different devices and then a little area to snugly fit the Wiimote in! I'll try and get pictures of it if I can, it's quite the nifty little thing if I do say so myself...
