Neither GC nor PS2 have an encryption chip. PSP does.

doesn't change the fact that the GS is a b*tch to emulate

GS? Did you mean GC? Dolphin emulates GC pretty good IMHO. Can't stop playing Naruto

no, the PS2's GS. What I'm saying is that devs managed to get pretty good PS2 emulation even though the PS2's GS is hard to emulate. Yet PSP emulation, which is simpler, is nowhere near half perfect.

PSP architecture is way harder to emulate. Everything does not only depend on one chip, but how they work together.

when it comes to the PSP, everything is well put together, unlike the huge mess that the PS2 is.

Said the expert hardware engineer... How many good Sega Saturn emulator do you know? How old is that console? Again: architecture matters.

isn't that what I'm trying to say? by far, the PS2 architecture is much harder than the PSP one, the GS alone makes PS2 emulation a b*tch

I think you mean EE (Emotion Engine), not GS (I actually don't know what you mean by this). EE is basically a CPU, a GPU and an FPU in the same dice, so I don't see how this a hard architecture to emulate (almost all other architectures have this same setup, even if it's not in the same dice). You're talking about ONE chip hard to emulate, not the whole architecture. PSP (like Saturn) is not as well emulated as PS2 because it's multiprocessor, and this makes the architecture hard to emulate. PSP has a far more complicated architecture: memory protection chips, 2 different caches (data/code), syscon, encryption chip, ME, GPU...

I've had this emulator for a couple years now... But I haven't used it in a while (I have a hacked PSP [PSP with a CFW], why would I need this? :P)
PPSSPP
It seems to run well in its latest revisions, and it runs Homebrew and ISOs. Try it out.
