It's not. It just voids my warranty. Which has ended a long time ago.

The only app (that isn't from the App Store) I really use is SBSettings. WinterBoard, MobileTerminal, and iFile are all pretty useful as well. I'm sure there are others, but I rarely use my iPod these days.
