Post by Thatxafghanxkid » Thu Jun 09, 2011 7:04 pm

Sony had indeed confirmed that on June 3 LulzSec broke into servers Pictures division. The firm did not contact since, but we knew she had put in relation with the FBI to ensure that perpetrators of the attack are found. Yesterday, the company again contacted , but this time to announce that the figure of one million accounts were highly exaggerated.

According to Sony Pictures, "only" 37,500 accounts have been stolen, and the firm ensures that "information did not include bank details, social security numbers or driver's license number of such persons." It further states that it incurred third-party security experts to conduct a survey and analysis of the attack. All relevant databases were disconnected and working with the FBI is ongoing.

Sony Pictures also warns of possible scams campaign and the influx of emails that could pass for very formal letters from the company inviting them to provide more personal data, precisely as those of the card. She says never ask what kind of information, but it is a policy that is found in all companies.

Ultimately, it is unclear whether these really only 37,500 accounts were affected. Even this would be really the case, the incident has nothing to be minimized: Tens of thousands of accounts in which information is stored in plain remain a serious security problem.
