I know c++ and for text based it is a lot easier, but i attempted to learn winapi but failed because of its complexity. java applets are much easier. you can also embed them in html and put them in an exe wrapper. it is not very slow only the start up is slightly longer, but on a good system it runs very well

Java is way slower than C++. You cannot hide that fact whatever the machine you're using. C++ will always be way faster than Java, like it or not. And telling C++ is for text-based only clearly shows you have no idea about C++. Most games are written in C++. Why they don't use Java? Because it's slow as heck.
