It's not the only way, but it is the best way. Google FreeMcBoot or goto the PSXScene they've got alot of info on it. It requires a MemoryCard, A Cheat Device, And a PSX Disc though.

You could use google and search for ways to mod a PS2.

I got a bunch of things in about 12 seconds.

@Disturbed0ne I know, already googled. However, I was not sure which is true and which is not, and decided to ask people who would tell me only the correct info.

@Sean994 thanks for the response ;)

I have like 3 MCboot memory cards all installed with the Datel cheat device sold at Best Buy. It was hard though, because the one I bought had to have many workarounds rather than buying the EVO edition.

modchipping is the best way, but i heard from a personal friend that it's also kinda hard if you don't know what you're doing. i think he said he broke like 3 systems before he got it down right. there's also swapmagic, which is probably cheaper, and not nearly as expensive. then there's another method i saw on youtube where they hacked into it with a usb flash drive of all things. i forgot what disc they had in the drive, but i believe it was an outdated version of gameshark, action replay, or something of the like.

Yeah they're plenty of methods to hack

Boot MemoryCard
Swap Magic
Mod Chip

Just some of the above methods to hack.

IMO the MemoryCard has got to be the easiest because it's like "HEN" on PSP Only way to deactivate it is unless you take out the MemoryCard.

If you need links to McBoot:
http://freemcboot.psx-scene.com/

I think they've got like 10 methods of how to get it installed I had Gameshark so I used that method. If you need more help just post back. ;)
