IR4 GOLD Plus update issues

I have had this problem befor, but I don't remember what I did to fix it.... When I try to update using the Plus dedicated usb updater I get one flash and thats it... I'm on the newst 3ds firmware so the lite meathod won't work -- not being able to load the .nds update file because I can't make it to moonshell... so far I have erased all info from the sd, tried diffrent usb ports.. I do NOT have the gui files on the sd at the moment... just the UPDATE.BIN.... If anyone can help, I appreciate it, if not, I had this problem once befor and I will figure it out, but a hand would save me ALOT of time :->

I don't use Moonshell for this exact reason..
for R4i gold 3ds, I'd recommend using Wood R4. Put the base firmware on your sd card, then download the patch for the version you're running. Then you just plug it into a DS/DSL and run the patch file and it'll auto patch your r4i and you'll be up and running again

I'm not sure if the brand new 3ds update has been patched yet though.. I've not updated mine since the newest fw came out...
