What is the GameCube?
For me, the GameCube is the last good console that came out of Nintendo, for other people is the type of "did it really exist?" console, it belonged to the sixth generation home consoles. To learn more: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gamecube
Terminology:
GOD: Gamecube Optical Disk, a special type of DVD with a special filesystem created specially to prevent piracy.
GCM: An .iso copy of a GameCube disk, it may have a .gcm or .iso extension.
DRE: Disk Read Error. The GameCube was not created to read DVD, so it has problems reading them, these problems result
in an error message been thrown by the system. Many factors influence on a DRE:
- Bad quality DVD *
- Bad burn
- Bad iso
- Non-fixed iso
- Bad quality burner
- Bad quality burning software
- etc
*The GameCube is very picky when reading a DVD, there is no global brand since each Gamecube is a different world.
SD: Secure Diginal memory card.
SD-Gecko: An SD card adaptor, with this you can use an SD card with your GameCube.

HOW TOs:
How to: burn GameCube ISOs
Any burning software should work, however it is highly recommended to use the following:
- Windows: IMG Burn is the best you can find and is free.
- Linux: gnomebaker seems to be the best solution.
- Mac: Disc Utility should work just fine.
Also make sure burn speed is 1x or 2x at most to prevent errors.
How to: fix GameCube ISOs
Download fstfix.exe (above) and "cd" to it's location (using a command prompt). The general command for fstfix is:
Code: Select all
fstfix iso options
Code: Select all
t Align data in blocks of 32K
f Change the iso size to fit a miniDVD (1.4 GB)
g Change the iso size to 3GB
s Streamfix, not recommended since most modchips do it on the go
You can also use Fstfix GUI, it's easy to use so no more details on it. Fstfix GUI has an autofix option, to use just rename your iso to "fixme.iso" and run Fstfix GUI, the iso will be fixed using the standard t and f option.
