Why would it play better? If anything it would be harder to get it working good because newer games require newer IOS versions. Homebrew compatibility is the same on 4.2U as it is on 3.4U (at least for me...).

Got my hands on a copy of LEGO Indiana Jones; paid through the nose for it, though. Successfully installed The Homebrew Channel with it, along with brick protection and a few other nice little features. Does anybody know of any good Wii homebrew? Preferably games and application as I already have the emulation side dealt with.

WiiMC comes to mind, a pretty decent Media Player, since it supports a lot of stuff: dvd player, internet streaming (like Youtube and SHOUTCast) and a nice selection of file types, soft subs, etc, etc...
USB Loader GX: This one's pretty useful if you have a hard drive or a large usb (8 gbs) since it allows you to install and load your games from the usb. The only downside of this one is that it also requires you to install cIOSes =/

Mine has been hacked for a while now, and since it was one of the first models (I think it came with FW 2.0u) I was able to install the brick protection on boot2
