3DS Hacking, Custom Firmware possibility?

Post by Linux » Sun Jun 19, 2011 9:58 pm

Hello,

First of all If this topic is posted in the wrong section please move it to where it belongs.

I've watched Nintendo's E3 conference they really showed great upcoming games/products, But the 3DS has caught my eye, So I decided to know what other peoples opinion about this sexy product.
I've watched several reviews of the 3DS on youtube and what really caught my attention is the feature that allows you to add an SD card to view your pictures/films etc,

My question is, Is there a possibility that the 3DS could be hacked through this and use Custom Firmware instead of OFW? just like the PSP? without using the crappy R4 flashes that are made with cheap plastic and poor coding -.-

i highly doubt that. one news article or review i read once stated that the 3DS is always sending/receiving info with nintendo's servers, and it's always letting nintendo know what you're doing w/the system. if nintendo finds that you put anything non-official in an attempt to hack it or put cfw on it, nintendo themselves will send an auto update file that will brick your system on the spot

You can switch the wireless on and off with the wireless switch. I think that will stop it from connecting to the Nintendo servers?

The 3DS scene is in its infancy :D

I think somebody has dumped the games but isn't telling us how.

But who would want to develop software but 9 year old kids (the main audience of DS and 3DS)?

Yeah I heard someone dumped the games, thats a good start i guess :)

btw, 3DS games are addicting, and are not only targeted for 9 year olds (Resident Evil, Metal Gear..etc)

...which is illegal. it's a bluff anyways. nintendo wouldn't do that, even if it wasn't illegal. if they purposly brick people's game systems, they could get sued. also even if they weren't successfully sued, they'd surely lose that person/people as customers. sony's stupid enough to do that but not nintendo. and yea, just turn off the wi-fi. problem solved, even if you were paranoid.

also, everything has that disclaimer that unathorized modifications are not allowed and that could mess up your system. nintendo just worded it different to try and scare people.

lolol wtf...?
even if that was true, no wireless = no signals...
or it would cost a helluva a lot to implement a worldwide 3G-like system that can send information back and forth, let alone an update file that will brick your system.
