Buy a PC based on specs sure, but buying a console based on specs? History disagrees with the notion that the console with best specs is the best-selling one of its generation.
And also yes, this is a PS site. Don't expect anyone to get an xbone here.

I can agree to this, the PS1 won despite the N64 having more specs, the PS2 won despite the Xbox having the best specs, the Wii won despite the PS3 having the best specs, and it seems the PS4 is winning despite having the best spec, wait what? yeah, Xian's post has great basis, but there's more to it:
- The N64, despite having much more power than the PS1, used cartridges that compared to CDs where much more expensive and had less space, the same applied to the Gamecube, although it was much more powerful than the PS2, it used mini-DVD technology that was much more expensive and could only hold about 1/4 of the size than normal DVDs.
- The Xbox, despite having more specs, was heavier and bulkier, while Sony released the PStwo, which not only gave the PS2's experience, but also at a much smaller size, and at a less price.
- The Wii "won" simply because it offered a new way of gaming that nobody ever experienced, and people were eager to see it, it turned out to be flawed and just a glorified gimmik, but it sold. The low price also helped.

To conclude, power is NOT a definite sell factor, but it's one of them, here's what I think makes a console sale:
- power
- price
- games
in no particular order.

It seems the PS4 has a great balance in these: they offer much more power than the XBONE for much less price, and PS exclusives are always a welcome.
