N00B - Help Needed - Homebrews Crash under HBL

Post by BinaryMage » Tue Dec 14, 2010 1:38 am

I installed Half Byte Loader on my PSP1001 running firmware version 6.20. HBL itself works fine, and some homebrews (specifically Wagic) do. However, with the majority of homebrews, including ones that are specifically developed to work with HBL, like gpSP kai HBL version, do not. When I start the homebrew from the HBL menu, the PSP screen goes black. The power stays on, but I cannot quit, and no image is displayed on-screen. I have to hold the power button for about 7 seconds to turn it off. I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, but I cannot figure out what the problem is.

Thanks in advance for your help,

Just as an FYI, the "HBL version" of gpSP Kai is just a standard version of gpSP Kai 3.2. It's completely fake. So, go grab this version:

and see if that works. Although, if it's more than just gpSP freezing, it might be a problem somewhere else...

Well, I got gpSP kai from psphacks.com, so I doubt it is fake. On gpSP kai, the program actually loads, but once I try to load a ROM it crashes as described in my first post. I have tried different versions of gpSP and different ROMS; even a different GBA emulator, all resulting in the same problem. It happens with other stuff, including homebrews that should work fine, like Mobile Assault v1.5. What could the problem be..?

EDIT: Reinstalled HBL, problem fixed...maybe the files were corrupted or something....

Remember that there are newer version of gpsp does not work on hbl.

That HBL version does not work on the current version of hbl. Use the non modified version.
