KMEMDUMP auto-creation on pspgo question

Post by jc_gargma » Tue Dec 07, 2010 10:17 pm

On my PSPgo, I find that HBL creates a new KMEM.DUMP file in root of my internal memory each time it loads. This seemed to start at about R101. It occurs on Patapon, HSG1, and HSG2. Removing all hbl files and replacing with another download does not seem to prevent this. I was curious if this is normally supposed to occur.
I use the HSG:OT2 Debug R110 on OFW 6.20 atm.

Yes, a kernel memory dump is written every time HBL starts on PSP GOs with firmware 6.20 and higher. It is used to provide perfect syscall estimation on those firmwares. Without the memory dump this would not be possible (like on the non-GO models).
