firmware updated

Post by gswilkent » Tue Dec 07, 2010 2:56 am

I will be getting a psp3000 in the next couple of days and have a newbie questions about HBL. Once I put on HBL am I good to go forever or does Sony push the firmware updates to me whether I want them or not? Or do I have to manually put on a firmware update.

Thanks for the patience with what I know is a newbie questions but couldn't find the answer to.

You have to manually update; Sony can't do it remotely.

The chance is big you'll get firmware 6.30 or higher though...
If I were you, I'd beg for 6.20

Companies cannot do this directly. They typically add a timer to the device that causes it to cease functioning unless it syncs with a company server every so often. Thus, forcing you to update to have the device work.
The PSP does not have any such feature, fortunately.
