some homebrews will just crash (bad programming), others will spit out an error message and leave the game (sometimes there's no choice, if the homebrew NEEDS the kernel prx in order to run, although IMO a "user mode only" fallback is possible in 99% of the cases), others will have an alternate user mode setting.
For example Wagic has a kernel prx to load. When this fails, wagic just does not use it. Does it remove some features from the game? yes. Does it prevent people from playing it? No. I'm not saying all homebrews can afford that kind of flexibility (the kernl prx in Wagic is not a critical feature), but homebrew coders should give it a try. HBL users probably represent half of the hacked PSP world nowadays, given the number of people who are stuck on OFW > 5.03. So homebrew devs should take "user mode only" into account.
