Due to seeing a lot of already answered stuff being reposted i created this thread.

Faqs

1. HBL (Half Byte Loader) won't load.
2. Possible Fixes.

1. Make sure you have the new game save and hbl common problem(s) fix(es) make sure hbl is set up like this ms0(or whatever you call your mem stick for macs)

2. I can't load XXX homebrew.

• Some hb's have prxes and others need kernal access (which hbl can't get) also look and make sure the file has the eboot in it.

• It was made for naiomi not cps2
• Fixes: -Wait for th hen and get the infcat version.

4. CPS2 needs a cache

5. My fave cps2/mvs psp rom keeps getting 'cpu1 not correct.

• You most likly need to
• MVS: mix the rom with a bootleg rom
• CPS2: get a rom from another reigion (i get mine from brothersoft)
• both:check to see if the cpu1 is decrypted.

A nice, helpful idea, but it isn't really that informative. No offence intended, but if I came here looking for answers, I'd come out more clueless than when I went in.

Just tidy it up, add a few more sentences of information, and then just build on it from there.

i agree, it doesn't seem planned out well.gud attempt though.

I've spent hours over the last few days figuring out how this works, so little by little I'll add links to the other threads/sites with relevant info. the readme files included with HBL are pretty straightforward though, so there isn't a huge need for the step-by-step on the forum.

I'll start by elaborating on some of what reverze said:

you'll have to download the exploited game save for the firmware version you currently have and, of course, a release of half byte loader(HBL)
ms0:/ is how the memory stick is identified on the PSP. kinda like your C:\ drive in windows. so, the file structure listed above should be what you see in the root of memory stick.
the patapon files are for firmware(fw) version 6.20 I believe. for 6.3x you'd need a copy of hotshots golf(classics) UMD or hotshots golf: open tee(original, not #2) from the playstation network.

I have a GO with 6.31, and a PSN version of HSG:OT
I've downloaded everything, I load the game and it loads hbl not all the time, and its the same with my emu's. Is there something I'm missing or is hbl buggy on 6.31 rather than the Patapon 2 demo exploit?

It is a little "Buggy"...I had a problem the first time (it got STUCK on the first time loading), and then my original snes9xTYL would not work (white screen only) but another version of that emulator "worked" but was sloooow. My other game system emulators work fine (only noticed a few hangups sometimes) but the HBL for 6.31 is better than nothing. I use my other PSP Go that has 6.10 with Patapon. MUCH better....but there is talk of a possible downgrader for the 6.31 someday maybe. So might at LEAST be able to get back to 6.20
