Just wanted to try this out, so I signed my self HB'ed .PRX with seboot.exe, scribbled up a new ISO with UmdGen and then used fake_np.exe on that.

Now, when I try to launch my HB NP EBOOT, the PSP throws a 80020148 or sometimes a 80010087 at me.

What am I doing wrong here? What am I missing?
Trying on my PSPgo with 6.35 OFW.
If by scribbled up you mean a file that you just added a .iso extension then I doubt it would work.

First of all, I'd like to thank TPU for the fake np!

Next, I was wondering if it would be possible for TPU to increase the size limit that the ISO can be for signing. I have a 1.54 gb ISO I want to sign but fake np v9 won't let me sign anything over 1.53 gb. Maybe an update for fake np v10? Just a real quick update?

Maybe you can compress the backup a littel more. Cso is a littel smaller than the same file in iso format. To convert for example isocompressor. Another option is trying isoshrink tool :) good luck!

1.54 gb IS the smallest I can get it without converting it to CSO; fake np v9 only works with ISO if I'm not mistaken, and that's what I'm trying to use.

*lol* I am not *THAT* dumb ;)

I have a valid (self compiled) .PRX, I ran seboot.exe on it, it placed it into a proper ISO and then ran fake_np on it.

=> 80020148 no matter what I try....

Version 10 without SignEboot?

Post by Whatsupyo40 » Sat Apr 23, 2011 4:47 pm

Ok first of all TPU you are just plain awesome for making this program 8-) <-- TPU

Secondly, If ANYBODY is wiling to help, I have a PSP game that is 1.38 GB (1,491,525,632 bytes) and I am really lost on how to use the Version 9 of Fake NP.
I had v5 were you could do games 728mb and under, which was easy to use. :D
I have a new ISO downloaded, all I need to do is convert it to EBOOT.PBP but whenever I run fake_np, it says there isnt any PBP file located there (???)
Should I be using the SignEboot instead? if I am suposed to be using that, please try and take out the virus in your next update. :(
I downloaded V9 But whenever I try to save it It says SignEboot.exe has a virus (Artemis!42BC4458E809) Could you make a version 10 without this part and include the src file instead? thanks SO much for the 728 version though. I got like 4 games using that. You are a PSP saver :)

Please also give some step by step instructions... I couldnt make out the ones included with 09
Also... could you try and edit that japaneese thing that always comes up during game boot to say "Made using fake_np by TPU"? just an idea.

Ok here is a step by step tutorial to sign your homebrews and iso using fake_np v1 and fake_npv5:

Preparing. Check if your game is ISO or eboot. If it is EBOOT, you have to extract it using the eboot2iso, then add the files to the UMDGen and continue the guide.
If your game is ISO, you may start right now.

1) Open the game with UMDGEN and extract the file PSP_GAME/SYSDIR/EBOOT.BIN to the "Fake_NP" folder.

1b) --OPTIONAL-- if you want to have the game icon (pic 0 and 1, img0 and pmf, sound file), before using fake_np you need to put all of them to the same folder as "Fake_NP"

2) Open command line (cmd.exe) and switch to your "Fake_NP" folder using "cd" command (example: cd C:\Fake_NP).

3) Write "seboot eboot.bin" and wait until the signing process finishes.

4) Replace in UMDGEN the old EBOOT.BIN with your signed one.

5) Save the game in ISO format (uncompressed) with the name "np.iso" in the "Fake_NP" folder.

6) Launch "fake_np.exe" and your EBOOT.PBP will be compiled

7) Copy EBOOT.pbp to your memory stick (or the GO storage) to the folder PSP/GAME/Name_of_your_game

8) If everything is ok, the game will launch on OFW !

P.S. if it didn't start, try searching for EBOOT.OLD in the SYSDIR folder, and sign this one instead. Also, after replacing the old BIN in the ISO file, rename your EBOOT.BIN to BOOT.BIN and replace it too. It should work then
