[NEW] Resource_Block By neur0n!

Post by moz » Fri Sep 09, 2011 9:22 am

Maybe you do not know, but all your savedatas usually save icons, backgrounds, sounds and maybe an animated icon too everytime, they are useless and just waste space. without them the savedata is still working and can be loaded with no issues.
This plugins is made by neur0n based on an idea i had, if you activate it the save time will be faster, and the savedatas will be smaller.
i also made a simple script for windows pc. the name is resource_cleaner.bat
simply run it from the root of the memory stick or internal memory and it will delete all of the resource files of the savedatas for you
then install this plugin to skip to save them, and you'll save some space and time too :D
i have tested it on psp slim, and on psp go, 6.39 and 6.60. both ME and PRO
with UMD, ISO, CSO (different isodrivers) PSN games (minis and others) PS1 games
i have tried both backups and official version it always worked and never corrupted my savegames, it just made them smaller

this is the readme,
This plugin blocks the writing of:

PIC0.PNG
PIC1.PNG
ICON0.PNG
ICON1.PMF
SND0.AT3

when any game saves at /PSP/SAVEDATA

Saving time will be faster, and the savedatas will be smaller.
Savedata without resources can be loaded with no issues. they just need less space.

Copy at ms0:/SEPLUIGINS or ef0:/SEPLUGINS and activate on game.txt and pops.txt

To quickly remove all of the savedata resource files to save some space before installing
the plugin copy resource_cleaner.bat on the root of your memory stick or internal memory
and double click on it. (windows pc only) it will delete them for you
you can then delete the bat file too.

Made by neur0n, tested on 6.60 and 6.39
Plugin, bat file and readme are on the .zip attached here

i usually send messages to neur0n here on wololo, about the bugs i find and the ideas i have.

this plugin is one of my idea came true ^_^) he coded it for me.
first version had some bug, this is a 2nd version, always made by him.
i tested it with almost all my games, and i had no issues, i quickly made a readme and a bat file, and sent them to neur0n
he said ok go ahead share it, so i did it
if you do not believe me you can ask on his twitter, or you can ask a moderator or admin to check my mailbox here on wololo, it has all the message we sent eachothers.

yay! peoples like it ^_^)

yes it is useful to have turned on, not only saving times are shorter, it also skip to write those icon files, so i can have more homebrews, or maybe some more extra rom for emulators, or even mp3 for plum's plugin

my savedata folder is now 12 MB and before it was past 55MB

i know is not much, but is always something....

I'd say on average most people that use this plugin save around 40mb right when they install the plugin, now with extra space they'll put more games on and save even more space using the plugin from now on. It's an endless cycle of space saving!

As always Neuron is the man! 8-) Giving us what we didn't even think we needed but now don't know what we'd do without.

Thanks for all your hard work Neuron. Seems like you make someones day every day in the PSP scene. :ugeek:
