[HELP] XMB item hider not working

Post by TechBro » Sun Feb 15, 2015 5:48 pm

Hi!

I'm having major problems getting XMB item hider to work on my PSP.

I got my PSP 3000 last week, and I've installed PRO CFW for one thing- to hide those pointless icons in XMB menu like EXTRAS, CAMERA, MUSIC UNLIMITED etc.
In Settings > System Information it says "System Software" 6.61 PRO-C. Though I will mention that I don't have permanently installed custom firmware. I'm using that Fast Recovery tool in case I actually turn off my PSP.

I'm able to play homebrews (I've already been playing some Cave Story), and other plugins work as well, so there is nothing wrong with my device or PRO CFW.

Here I used a plugin called PRXshot to make a screenshot. It says that xmbih is enabled, but it really doesn't do ***.

I know that in order to hide anything you must go to configuration file (.ini) and change value to 1 for every icon you want to hide. And I've done that. And nothing happened.

I've tried diffirent versions of this plugin, but none of them worked.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Not compatible with 6.61.

Downgrade to 6.60 or dont use it.

Really? Are there any other plugins that allows you to do something similar?

EDIT:

If not, how can I downgrade? Also, I will prolly have to instal PRO CFW again, right? That's not a problem.

Can you just tell me what's the quickest and safest way to downgrade?

anyway, XMB item hider is kind of useless anyway. It doesn't allow to hide the whole section leaving you with many empty horizontally cluttering icons without items.

Thanks for letting me know that. Because it wouldn't be worth downgrading for that.
dang. So even with custom firmware and plugins you can't get rid of those pointless icons. How annoying. I don't know what Sony was thinking installing all that ***.

Is it maybe possible to hide these icons by making a custom theme?

https://code.google.com/p/zerovsh-patcher/

it´s also possible to replace icon and insteed use homebrews from those icons. Example
http://www.mediafire.com/download/jztwo ... OD+v1b.rar or darkspeed

but to do it yourself with other icons maybe tricky and ends with brick.

Not sure if uofw project is usefull to you.

If you do not like xmb a shell can be a alternative to you.

I removed freelocation player but icon was still loaded. Benefit was if i press by mistake on it, psp does nothing ;=)

Alright thanks for these.

I'd just like to ask what exactly is the PRO XMB MOD and how could it solve the issue?

Otherwise, yeah I could replace icons and use something to link them to another app or plugin, but if I do that, I'd like apps to be related to their category. For example, I could replace SenseMe Channels with another music related app.

EDIT: I've found some homebrew apps that could replace those useless icons. For example, I'd like to replace SenseMe with PSPSEQ.
I can install PSPSEQ, but then I need to somehow link this app to SenseMe icon and then replace icon image.
What would be the best way to do this?

EDIT #2: I have downgraded to 6.60. I have just followed the instructions in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XhyBhUzjcMw, by The Z.
Thanks. Now I can enjoy any plugin.

Only one question left, if anyone still notices this thread.
XMB Item Hider is definitely working now and I love it. It does not hide the EXTRAS tab, though. While that is barely even a problem, faking region does hide it.
I can set fake region to Debug type 1 and it's gone.

I'm just curious about what exactly is Debug type 1 and are there any other effects of faking region.
Can someone explain that to me?
