Plugin that allows removal of memory stick while playing iso

Post by myeyes14 » Tue Dec 16, 2014 4:16 am

This may sound like a stupid question but is there any plugin that allows you to remove the memory stick while keeping an iso running?

The new Grisaia no Meikyuu and Grisaia no Rakuen games requires you to remove the memory stick and reinsert it to create install data (I see this as essentially DRM making it impossible to play on an emulator as well) but after doing this install data is not created and the error message is repeated.

If there is no plugin that does this is there any other way for me to work around this?

Try enable hide cfw files from game in recovery menu in advanced or could try USB ISO Loader or install it from umd?

Grisaia as in "Grisaia no Kajitsu"?

Try the new ME/LME CFW and use its "hide CFW folders in GAME" feature.

It should hide the CFW directories (e.g. seplugins, /ISO/ and others).

And the game requires to remove and reinsert the memory stick?

Good luck trying to play this on a PSP Go from its internal storage.

What? The first psp game with mandatory install data? XD
Aren't they a little late for such adventurous methods?

Hmmm this does not sound to be easily circumvented with "hide cfw folder" and the likes.
That sounds more like they compare the "source path" with the "install path".

Now this would be interesting to try it out on a psp GO.
Put the iso on internal memory and then when it asks you to remove the memory stick, do so.
On a GO the internal memory is called ef0 and the stick is still ms0.
That piece of software was not developed for the GO so it might be possible to trick it like this, all the other psp's would have bad luck.

Just a thought here, might try it out.

Umm btw where did you get those? Or did you make your own ???isos??? Can't find it on the usual places and on my fav sub channels those are not there either. Only kajitsu is available.
So as long as I can't find it, I can't try what I stated above. -_-
The internet is a bottomless barrel of sh*t, we try to fill it, everyday. But we fail, because its bottomless.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

Firstly, hide cfw files from game didn't work.

Secondly I would try USB ISO loader but I can't get it to run in the first place. Runs fine on my PSP but when running usbhostfs_pc.exe I get an 'Error, unknown command 8FFC00BE' (an unsolvable error according to a search of this site and google). This really sucks as I think it might work if I could get it running in the first place.

I'm going to keep trying to get USB ISO loader to work but if anyone has any other solutions I'm all ears.

Edit: The PSP Go idea sounds like a good idea but unfortunately I don't have access to one. I still think the idea of running the iso from somewhere else apart from the memory stick is the way to go.

Edit 2: Finally got it working. The 8FFC00BE error was because remotejoy was enabled in game. After I disabled it USB ISO loader worked like a charm (iso needed to be patched using iso tool as per the guide) and install data was successfully installed. Thanks everyone for the help.

You need ME cfw to use USB ISO Loader

I've got a similar issue (with needing to remove the memory stick while running a game): I've got Monster Hunter Freedom Unite (EU, PSN EBOOT version). It supports only one savegame per memory stick. There are three character slots per savegame. I want to use the "Import Monster Hunter Freedom Unite Character" option, to import an MHFU character from another savegame into my savegame; however, if I select that option, the game prompts me to insert the memory stick with the character I want to import. I don't think putting both gamesaves on my memory stick would work... is USB ISO loader/buy the UMD version the way to go, or is there another option, seeing as I have the official PSN version (and $0ny should really have fixed any such issues)?

Thanks, and Merry Christmas, everyone!

Have you tried switching the card in-game? I would think that if the game prompts you to do such a thing, it shouldn't cause any issues with what you currently have. I would think that anything needed to import the save should already be loaded into RAM, so switching memory sticks SHOULDN'T cause issues.

Blaming SCE for something in a game they had nothing to do with, classic.
And yes everything needed should be in RAM already so temporarily switching memory sticks should be fine.
