Hello.
I've been wanting to extract a background (a.k.a. wallpaper) from a theme I've downloaded a while ago and I'm not sure how to properly do so. I tried looking around for steps on how to do so but I haven't found any that gives me a clear step of doing so. If anyone can help go through the steps of extracting the background from the .ptf, I'll be really thankful

. The .pft in question is this one:

The PSP flashes the PTF file as it is. It does not unpack it. I checked the md5 on the flashed file and the one on my memory stick. They are the same.

you can unpack a PTF files with CTFTool_GUI
@TheLostSabre
i believe if u extract the PTF files it can .DAT Files once it extracted or a .PNG Files "if im not misstaken"
i would suggest use CTFTool or Sony PTF Theme Maker "i prefer CTFTool its easy to use"

Okay, I extracted the .ptf file and now all the files are in .dat. I would guess "background.dat" is what I'm looking for.
Now here's the thing: I would like to have the file to simply be either .bmp or .png. Is there's a way to convert it to either one of these image type?

yes thats the background/wallpaper
i dnt think you can convert it .bmp or .png try changing or delete the background.dat and place your "background.png or .bmp" and pack the ptf see if that work

I've tried changing the background.dat to .bmp, .png and also .jpg (just to be sure) and none of them worked. The resulting file can't be viewed by anything (not even PhotoShop CS5). CTFTool GUI v5b2 couldn't convert it for me.
If anyone else knows of a way to convert it I'd be interested to know as well.

Yup. Just want to keep it as a wallpaper when other themes' wallpaper doesn't do for me.
