Hi everybody !
Our team (Assuming many changing) already competed in psp-HACK horror show contest during last summer break.
It was our first time on PSP programming and we took the (tough but useful) choice to set up our own 3D engine.
Despite our motivation it was a tough work for us, and our production was more like a grahic demo than a game.

This year we refine our engine and we almost fulfill our objectives:
So today we are pleased to present you Maze Effects : A 3D puzzle game with about 20 levels and awesome story ;)

In this game you can control 2 characters and you will have to make them help each other to reach the end of the different levels

For this contest our team was made up:
Engine programer : HigHRonN/Tichau
Tools programer : Tichau
Gameplay programer : Uga/Zazou
2D/3D environment artist : Griffin
Sound designer : Kazemushi
Level designer : Hugo/Anthony/Meedoc/Griffin

HOW TO USE LEVEL EDITOR
- You can manage your levels with 'New', 'Load', 'Save' and 'Settings'.

- With the 'Rows' and 'Cols' sliders, you can choose the size of the grid.

Selection : This mode allows you to edit links (see 'Link' below).
Edition : This mode allows you to select and place elements in the grid. To place an element, select a block type in the menu on the left and left click anywhere on the grid.
Link : To link two cells, select a cell, click 'Link', and select the target cell. Switches must be linked to their targets to work.

- There are different types of cells. The star (*) indicates an element that must be placed somewhere on the grid for the level to work:

NORMAL : Empty cell.
IMMUABLE : Block the player can't move.
*START_BLUE : Spawn point of the blue character.
*START_RED : Spawn point of the red character.
BLOCKING_BLUE : Cell where the player can't put red blocks.
BLOCKING_RED : Cell where the player can't put blue blocks.
BLOCK_NORMAL : Standard block both characters can move.
BLOCK_BLUE : Block only the blue character can move.
BLOCK_RED : Block only the red character can move.
SWITCH_NORMAL : Switch for regular doors. Don't forget to link it to its door (only one door per switch).
SWITCH_BLUE : Optional switch for the blue endpoint. There must be only one in the level.
SWITCH_RED : Optional switch for the red endpoint. There must be only one in the level.
*END_BLUE : Blue endpoint (only one by level).
*END_RED : Red endpoint (only one by level).
HOLE : Hole that can be filled with one block.
DOOR : Regular door. You can link it to a switch to allow the player to open it (only one switch per door)

When you created your level to play it in the game follow this steps:
- Go to MazeEffects/Data/Level/ directory
- Open the file "game_levels.xml" with any text editor
- Add your level by writing a new line <level file="MyLevel.lvl" difficulty="1" />
- Dont forget to copy your level MyLevel.lvl in the directory
- Enjot it!!! Share it!!!

There is 4 levels difficulty:
- 0 = tuto
- 1 = normal
- 2 = hard
- 3 = extreme

You can post your levels on this forum to share it with other people - I'm impatient to try some of YOUR levels


If you don't have a PSP - don't worry you can download the JPCSP java emulator to try the game.

How to play with emulator:
- Unzip the emulator archive
- Double click on start-windows-x86.bat in jpcsp-windows-x86/folder
- Click file + load from memstick and choose maze effect in the list
- Enjoy!!!

You can configure your keys by pressing F11 or Options+Controls

Known bugs :
- Game can running slow sometimes - Press start and restart level to fix it

- Menu animation


HOW TO PLAY :
- Use ImageImageImageImage to move
- Press Image to switch the cam in global mode
- Held Image to grab a block and move it
- Press Image to switch character
- Characters Image Image can grab only neutral blocks Image or their colors Image
- Push blocks ImageImage in holes Image to make new path
- To end a level you have to activate colored exits Image by pushing colored block on swithes of the same color Image
- Push any color block on normal switch Image to open doors Image

i played the simple level with tn-d :roll:i done a mistake so i tryed to restart the level then the psp turned off. ^^i like puzzel games and that we can change the 3d view in your brew. Thanks for sharing and good luck! edit: now it is working well ;)

Sorry there was a horrible bug in the first release - We already uploaded a new one fixing it but the game can still crash sometimes :?

It's not working using PSP 3000 TN-E (not installed) after colrd reboot

if you can fix it plz... this is a game i would rlly love to play

i'm only using game catergories + TD-D/E + aLoader 1.25
