[Plugin] pspdbg

Post by nwert » Tue May 24, 2011 10:09 pm

This is a debugger plugin for the psp, it has quite usefull features by now. I started working on this a long time ago and eventually forgot about it but now it seems a good idea to submit is to this competition.
If you want to try it out, just install it as every other plugin and press L+R to activate the debug menu. Press L/R in the menu to change between the categories.
The compo splash is included in the zip archive.
Pictures will follow.

i tried it under:
vsh
disc game
psn minis
compressed iso version of disc game also ripped
iso version of psn game (compressed and ripped a bit)
official ps1 game
custom ps1 game

all these things works fine on my psp (slim ta-88v2 with 6.39ME-2) but when i hold L&R instead of openeing the menu it just lock my psp like if i used the hold switch. and there's no way to turn it off. i had to remove the battery.

it needs an update to work with 6.39 i suppose

anybody else tested this on another firmware? what does this plugin actually do?
by the way i can hex edit the ram in real time with cwcheat 0.23, even under vsh or just have a look at it or take dumps, even thru usb to not waste space on psp...

Hi, apologies to be a nazi about this, but before we accept this entry, can you include the following in your Readme?
This Homebrew is an entry for the PSP Genesis competition 2011, sponsored by npt, psp-hacks.com, pspgen.com, pspslimhacks.com, exophase.com, pspcustomfirmware.com, daxhordes.org, gamegaz.jp, xtreamlua.com and wololo.net
The splash screen in the archive is a nice to have (thanks for that), but for plugins we'd like to have this in the readme.

Also, has it's been reported above, I couldn't get this to run without crashing my PSP. I am on 5.00 m33 6, and tried to press L+R inside of the VSH. It attempted to display a menu but crashed at that point. Some other attempts didn't display a menu at all...
If you need US PSN Codes, this technique is what I recommend.

I'm on 5.0 m33 6 too but it works fine for me, maybe you have some other plugins running, that collide with mine (maybe some that hook the display/button driver). Also I updated the README like you said.

moz:
This should not be a cheat plugin but much more a debugger (like psplink). But I have to implement exception handling first.

i managed to have it working, but under vsh only.
i see its purpouse... awesome! kernel memory ,user, vram, scratchpad are all there
there is also a disasembler and a thread list
but it is not working under games, when i try to open its menu it freeze and after a bit my psp turn off.
also under vsh when i opened the debugger menu in the background the vsh was still active (and not suspended like when i open cwcheat)
and i know peoples use cwcheat to cheat. but it has a built in memory viewer and disasembler (but only the vram and nothing else) but i used it on vsh to find some values (OT: my menu fonts color is black now and it looks so cool with my custom theme)
i'm using latest firmware (6.39me-2) so the freezing problem under games is on my side most probably.

Bottom line awesome plugin, i hope that who really need it can find it and use it cause it looks like it will makes things easier for brew devs ^^
