[GAME] G.D.P. [Updated] 28/May

Postby DeViaNTe » Thu May 12, 2011 3:39 am

Homebrew: G.D.P.
Author: DeViaNTe
Type: Game - Arcade
Languages: 4 [English / Spanish / French / German] - Lang of PSP or english by default.
Progress: Game mechanics done / Improved. Need for history-line and many more scenarios...

German translation by The Z and dreiundachtzig (eightythree)(83). So many thanks for that ;)

And, it's better one image than thousand words... so... let's make a video, better than... thousands of thousands of words?
Youtube video:

And the video for the update:

I'm very happy with this homebrew, currently unfinished, but having a fully original OST (by me).
Game is programmed in Lua, using my own interpreter LuaDEV. (Cool, yah?)
Full 3D, cellshading, multithreading... Lua will be becoming as useful as C!
This game, instead is a show of what could be done with it!

Well, more updates asap! (but past the endline)

For those wanna test:
OLD VERSION
ISO 14.mb : http://www.mediafire.com/?dry5ji2h338e37f
PBP (unsigned) : http://www.mediafire.com/?0m2roops9yeo7ob
PBP signed (and shrinked) : http://www.mediafire.com/?49p3neni9ojinex thx to toBsucht
CSO : http://www.mediafire.com/?qh9a9hf50tfsl2p

CURRENT VERSION (0.2? maybe)
PBP (unsigned) (+ German) : http://dl.dropbox.com/u/24220130/GDP_EBOOT.rar
PBP signed (and shrinked) (not updated with german): http://zload.file4u.net/Homebrews/GDP%200.2%20signed%20and%20shrinked.zip thx to The Z
Iso temporarily removed. (Thx for the advice).

Why should I vote this homebrew?
  • Original game! (A common genre instead)
  • All hand-crafted from scratch!
  • OMFG, this is... lua?
  • Don't vote only for the game, the Luaplayer is built from nothing too. (I will include a manual within the game, but it is unfinished too, the final version of the luaplayer will have sooooo many commands... and interesting functions!).
What to say... using luadev will bring this homebrew in the future to be ported to other platforms, cause luadev is currently being ported to Wii, so... multiplayer playing Wii Vs Psp ones?... Interesting! (Port for PC planned too!) ( Looking for any PS3 developer, that could bring this power to ... you know.. ps3!) (As you could see, the cool thing of this luaplayer is that is being built or planned for building multiplatform, so... multiplatform games? Sharing the same source code? Think about that ;)

And well, for those wanna know a little more:
Game is fully CC licensed, that is, feel free to modify, distribute or share!
Game is fully opensourced, plus commented, for those wanna learn!

Planned for the future, (out of gen. compo, cause the endline is here...):
Multiplayer modes! Co-op, race...
Map editors, fully customizable enemies, weapons, scenarios... With the main motor and mechanics builded, generate new weapons, scenarios or enemies will be easy as 1-2-3, this will increase the life of the homebrew!

Comments appreciated! (really), And because of that many improvements are / will be done!

After playing the game i noticed some points
1. Loading = very slow.
2. Gameplay = Awesome.
3. Bugs = Many random crashes occurs when changing the option.
4. Overall = Nice but can be improved hope you do it before the deadline :)

Thx for the review, so.... loading time shortened cause of your comment. (model loading needed optimization).
So.. for bugs, could you explain a little more detailed cause of the random crash? Changing option in menu, (pressing left/right), changin options in menu options... while exiting menu options, while in menu options, normally over X item. Cause I tested times and times and... no bug here. What version (iso/cso/pbp) are you testing? Cfw? All the info you could apport will be appreciated.

Edit: bug found in iso version... while exiting options.

Thanks a lot!

Many thanks dude! Iso yeah, iso2eboot, later, copy all files to SYSDIR, exactly as if EBOOT.BIN was EBOOT.PBP, and use UMDGen to generate your ISO. All the games should work this way, if they don't write anything to the memory stick, cause "disc0" is read-only. And then you can compress the iso to any format supported. But beware of the compression, sound will be causing troubles (a little bit) in CSO, cause sound is readed on-the-fly (and uncompressed as well).
