Quick Question

Post by 5h4d0w » Tue Apr 19, 2011 4:42 pm

I just wanted to know if placing the plash screen in the EBOOT as PIC1.png (the eboot's background image) instead of taking up two seconds of my app's startup time would follow the rules OK... I'm just asking because I want my app to start as quickly as possible. I've already optimized many parts of my app but faster is always better :)

If I can't, that's ok. Rules are rules (albeit slightly ambiguous rules).

im not a judge or anything, this is just my opinion. placing the splashscreen as the the pic1 would be a bad idea because someone could easily edit that and then there would be no splashscreen. displaying it in the actual program makes it much more difficult to remove the splashscreen.

I assume your program has some graphical output. If it doesn't like Coldbird's PRO B-4 then I am sure the judges will make an exception. However, if it does have graphical output, then afaik you have to put the splash inside the program even if it for 2-3 seconds

Yeah, but, what would be the point? It's not like it's a huge inconvenience to look at it while you press X or anything ;)

Yes, I can display graphics. I have been using the splash in-game since I released my app. I was just wondering if I could do this to cut startup time.

PS. What does "afaik" mean? :?: :P

the point of the splashscreen isnt to inconvience the user, its to honor the competition and the sponsors who have donated a large amount of money for this competition. so, providing a splashscreen that could be easily edited out defeats the entire purpose of having a splashscreen in the first place.

Ok, I guess I'll just leave it as-is.
