PSPCiv

Post by karalazos » Tue Feb 22, 2011 12:13 pm

Hello.

I've started a project of a strategy game called PSPCiv. It will be a clone of the famous stragegy game written from scratch.
Well I haven't programmed in ages so this will take a while. I hope to have a working demo for the contest soon.

Features
-Single & multiplayer game
-8 civilizations to start with with unique buildings, units and tech ladder.
-Culture or Conquest victory
-A lot of other features haven't decided yet

P.S. This is not going to be a port of any other similar open source game. It will be my concept of the game.
I might use some os gfx because Im not good graphic designer but thats it.

A little bit about myself:
As I said earlier I haven't programmed in ages (close to 15years to be exact). I was a TP programmer back when there was no D3D or hardware acceleration.
I do have the knowledge of game programming and I see that jumping from php(which I practice now) to c isn't that hard. All I need to do is get used to pspsdk.

Welcome to the world of PSP programming, it's both exciting and painful at times. Looking forward to seeing your game, the PSP lacks good strategy games :)

Next to RPGs and Platformers, Strategy is one of the types of games I like best.
I wish you good luck!

Oldschool knowledge is pretty useful for making games for handhelds. Just keep in mind that you have a powerful GPU that you ought to be using, if you draw all your graphics using CPU the game will end up much slower than it has to be. There exists a couple of libraries that make the task easier.
