Use v5.2, just make sure not to install any BTCNF patches.

Okay thanks. I've been thinking about getting a 1000 but i was wondering would if i should get it because irshell is amazing but im not sure if its worth it. Hopefully the make a stable version that all apps work for 6.xx cfw.
WAIT!!! if i downgrade again back to 5.50 or 5.03 GEN with chickHEN r2 without installing any patches would irshell work fully or atleast more apps work like you tutorial for

You have to install BTCNF patch for everything to work, it's needed for PS1 2-player over AD-HOC. But I highly recommend you NEVER install BTCNF patches on unflashable PSPs. If you want to do stuff that requires the BTCNF patch, get a 1000 and install 5.00 M33-6 on it.

Is it possible to install this on my PSP 3000 with 6.60 Pro B10? I need IR shell to use remotejoylite with my mac :\ Is there any other alternative? My remotejoy client on mac keep telling me to turn on the usbhostfs on my PSP.

It's sad that IRShell won't be updated for 6.xx :( Are there any alternatives?
I have a Slim running 5.50 GEN-D3, with IRShell 5.2.
As reported by PSPident 0.75 (labeled 0.74 from IRShell and XMB for some reason):

Code: Select all

Tachyon: 0x00500000
Baryon: 0x00243000
Pommel: 0x00000123
Kirk: 0010
Spock: [mysteriously blank. Is this normal?]
Motherboard model: TA-088 v1/v2
Motherboard type: Slim 2001 (02g)
UMD firmware ver.: [also blank]
PSP version: Slim v2.0/2.1
Bat. EEPROM access: Read only
Possible CFW: Yes, w/ custom IPL
It's software has been running perfectly fine and I usually use it to play homebrew (Wagic, at which I get my but kicked by the AI) and random classic ROMs (Metroid, Pokémon, Mario, and ROM hacks) and reading .txt and .pdf books with Bookr. The only problems I have had have been hardware problems because I carry it in my pocket and it slips out a lot. As a result, my UMD reader is spotty at best and the door is almost broken. I've taped everything but the memstick door completely shut to avoid anything else falling off when I drop it. (I also added some folded napkins in the battery compartment as padding so that it won't dislodge when dropped.) Also, the joystick has been getting increasingly glitchy which sometimes makes me veer off and crash in racing games. :P
But, anyway, besides the adition of progressive layers of tape, this PSP's core software has remained unchanged for almost 4 years now. I'm quite happy with it, and never saw any reason to upgrade to any other firmware.
That is, I never saw a reason to upgrade until I stumbled across The 3rd Birthday. This game looks cool (how can you not like timetravel plots?), but unfortunately requires firmware 6.21 or 6.31 or something, I forget, but the point is that it wants 6.xx and I have 5.xx.
If upgrading to anything 6.xx makes IRShell basically unusable, are there any alternatives to IRShell that would work with 6.60? (I'll worry about out which 6.60 CFW is best later.) For some reason, lots of people seem to think that the XMB can do everything IRShell can. I've never seen a way to browse and edit your files in the XMB. (Unless this has changed in 6.xx? I'd love to be proven wrong, specifically with screenshots or video.) Sure, the XMB can browse music pictures and video, but I've got lots of .txt, .pdf, and .html files that would be nearly impossible (or at least very difficult) to open without IRShell. Also, I like being able to quickly jump out of a game to view an image, connect and transfer files via USB, etc, and then jump back into the game exactly where I left off. (Which also makes unpausable games pausable. 8-) ) I also like how easilly I can change my clock speed. Are there any alternative shell replacements that even come close to this level of functionality? From what I've read, it looks like multitasking was an IRShell exclusive (unless someone else figures it out), but there has to be something that comes close. Right? <puppy eyes/> Right?
If I upgrade to 6.60, I'll need a full replacement for IRShell. This may be a tall order, but what I want is something that:
1) Runs automatically on startup so I never have to see the ugly and feature-deprived XMB again,
2) Lets me run ISOs/CSOs/things in my GAME folder easilly,
3) Lets me rip UMDs so I can make CSOs and put them on my memory stick (I could probably live without this now, since my UMD drawer is basically shot anyway),
4) Lets me browse the contents of my USB and prefferably cut/copy/paste/delete files as well (browsing Flash and UMD a bonus, I'd also prefer if I could transfer files via USB while still doing things on the PSP),
5) Lets me launch programs/plugins/whatever directly by clicking on an associated file, for example Bookr when I select a .txt file or the web browser when I select .html
If nothing but IRShell will do, then I guess I'll just continue with my current settup and give up on playing shiny new games. After all, old-school is where the real fun is. :geek:

PS: Sorry for the long post, but it's also my first so please forgive me! I'd also like to congradulate the people here on having what seems to be one of the most active and comprehensive PSP forms on the net. Everything else seems to have died circa 2008-2010 :P And a big thank-you-in-advance for the help!

You can have those features if you run a 6.xx cfw. I cann´t see why not just use cxmb plugin or if you still want a shell why not xplora 2
