Do you like switching firmwares on your hackable PSP? Would you like to multi-boot firmwares off of your memstick? Then this tut is for you! This tut will teach you how to install and configure TimeMachine, install and mod DCv7 and DCv8 to act like TimeMachine firmwares, and how to make everything work together.
This will not work on a TA-088v3, PSP-3000, or a Go, TimeMachine requires the use of service mode/Pandora to work which isn't available to TA-088v3 or PSP-3000 because of the IPL problem
---Requirements---
Free space stated below is for a full install based on that system (Refer to the Compatibility section), you can choose not to install certain firmwares if you don't want them
For a Phat (PSP-1000):
At least 210 MB free space on your memstick
A Pandora's Battery
For a Slim (PSP-2000):
At least 210 MB free space on your memstick
A Pandora's Battery or 2 batteries (one Pandora and one normal)(depends on the firmware you have on your NAND, I will explain in the next section)
For both Phat and Slim:
At least 250 MB free space on your memstick
A Pandora's Battery or 2 batteries (one Pandora and one normal)(depends on the firmware you have on your Slims NAND, I will explain in the next section)
---Battery Info---
I bet your saying to yourself: "Why do I need a Pandora's battery?" or "Why do I sometimes need 2 batteries for a Slim?" We'll tackle those ?s in order:
1st up, "Why do I need a Pandora's battery?" TimeMachine is set up to use service mode to boot firmwares off of the memory stick, and a Pandora's battery is what puts a PSP into service mode.
2nd, "Why do I sometimes need 2 batteries for a Slim?" The reason you sometimes need 2 batteries for a Slim is clearly stated in the Time Machine readme:
This means if you have 3.90 M33-2 or higher CFW, you can use a Pandora's battery to boot everything including the firmware on your NAND, but if you have CFW lower than 3.90 M33-2 or OFW you can't boot to NAND using a Pandora's battery, it'll act like a brick. To sum things up:TimeMachine Readme wrote:Timemachine nand boot in slim, requires, however, 3.90 M33-2 or greater (CFW)
Slim NAND boot chart:
Firmware on NAND-| Battery to boot to NAND
=================|=====================
3.90 M33-2+ CFW---| Pandora or Normal
=================|=====================
Under 3.90 M33-2---| Normal
=================|=====================
Any OFW-------------| Normal
=================|=====================
OFW w/ Custom IPL| Pandora or Normal
=================|=====================
---Compatibility---
TimeMachine has 4 different firmwares available to install to your memstick, but only certain ones work on certain PSP models, below is a list of those firmwares and which PSP they will work on:
Firmware-----------------------------| PSP Model
=============================|==============
1.50 OFW ----------------------------| Phat
=============================|==============
1.50 OFW w/ 3.40 HW Modules----| Phat and Slim
=============================|==============
3.40 OE-A-----------------------------| Phat
=============================|==============
3.60 M33------------------------------| Slim
=============================|==============
This tutorial will also help you install the following firmwares to act like TM firmwares:
Firmware-----------------------------| PSP Model
=============================|==============
4.01 M33-2----------------------------| Phat and Slim
=============================|==============
5.00 M33-4----------------------------| Phat and Slim
=============================|==============
So in other words, if you have a Phat you can get 5 extra firmwares doing this, if you have a Slim you get 4

---Installing the TimeMachine Firmwares---
Unrar "timemachine_0.1.rar"
Copy the folder "TIMEMACHINE" to "X:/PSP/GAME" (X = your PSP's drive letter)
Copy the following files to X:/
150.PBP
340.PBP
360.PSAR
You only have to install the firmwares you want or can use, so if you don't want or can't use a certain firmware, skip to the next one
Run "Time Machine"

"Install iplloader on PSP MS boot sector"

"Press X to return to main menu"

"Install 1.50 (PHAT)"

"Press X to return to main menu"

"Install 1.50 with 3.40 hw modules (PHAT&SLIM)"

"Press X to return to main menu"

"Install 3.40 OE (PHAT)"

"Press X to return to main menu"

"Install 3.60 M33 (SLIM)"

"Press X to return to main menu"

Exit TimeMachine

You should now be able to fully shutdown your PSP and reboot into different firmwares by holding the following buttons while turning it on:
Firmware-----------------------------| Buttons
=============================|==============
