Installing TimeMachine & DCv7&8 as TM Firmwares

Post by ruyor » Sat Jan 29, 2011 1:08 pm

---Information---

Do you like switching firmwares on your hackable PSP? Would you like to multi-boot firmwares off of your memstick? Then this tut is for you! This tut will teach you how to install and configure TimeMachine, install and mod DCv7 and DCv8 to act like TimeMachine firmwares, and how to make everything work together.

This will not work on a TA-088v3, PSP-3000, or a Go, TimeMachine requires the use of service mode/Pandora to work which isn't available to TA-088v3 or PSP-3000 because of the IPL problem

---Requirements---

Free space stated below is for a full install based on that system (Refer to the Compatibility section), you can choose not to install certain firmwares if you don't want them ;)

For a Phat (PSP-1000):
At least 210 MB free space on your memstick
A Pandora's Battery

For a Slim (PSP-2000):
At least 210 MB free space on your memstick
A Pandora's Battery or 2 batteries (one Pandora and one normal)(depends on the firmware you have on your NAND, I will explain in the next section)

For both Phat and Slim:
At least 250 MB free space on your memstick
A Pandora's Battery or 2 batteries (one Pandora and one normal)(depends on the firmware you have on your Slims NAND, I will explain in the next section)

---Battery Info---

I bet your saying to yourself: "Why do I need a Pandora's battery?" or "Why do I sometimes need 2 batteries for a Slim?" We'll tackle those ?s in order:

1st up, "Why do I need a Pandora's battery?" TimeMachine is set up to use service mode to boot firmwares off of the memory stick, and a Pandora's battery is what puts a PSP into service mode.

2nd, "Why do I sometimes need 2 batteries for a Slim?" The reason you sometimes need 2 batteries for a Slim is clearly stated in the Time Machine readme:
TimeMachine Readme wrote:Timemachine nand boot in slim, requires, however, 3.90 M33-2 or greater (CFW)
This means if you have 3.90 M33-2 or higher CFW, you can use a Pandora's battery to boot everything including the firmware on your NAND, but if you have CFW lower than 3.90 M33-2 or OFW you can't boot to NAND using a Pandora's battery, it'll act like a brick. To sum things up:

Slim NAND boot chart:

Firmware on NAND-| Battery to boot to NAND
=================|=====================
3.90 M33-2+ CFW---| Pandora or Normal
=================|=====================
Under 3.90 M33-2---| Normal
=================|=====================
Any OFW-------------| Normal
=================|=====================
OFW w/ Custom IPL| Pandora or Normal
=================|=====================

---Compatibility---

TimeMachine has 4 different firmwares available to install to your memstick, but only certain ones work on certain PSP models, below is a list of those firmwares and which PSP they will work on:

Firmware-----------------------------| PSP Model
=============================|==============
1.50 OFW ----------------------------| Phat
=============================|==============
1.50 OFW w/ 3.40 HW Modules----| Phat and Slim
=============================|==============
3.40 OE-A-----------------------------| Phat
=============================|==============
3.60 M33------------------------------| Slim
=============================|==============

This tutorial will also help you install the following firmwares to act like TM firmwares:

Firmware-----------------------------| PSP Model
=============================|==============
4.01 M33-2----------------------------| Phat and Slim
=============================|==============
5.00 M33-4----------------------------| Phat and Slim
=============================|==============

So in other words, if you have a Phat you can get 5 extra firmwares doing this, if you have a Slim you get 4 ;)

---Files Needed---

TimeMachine Install - http://dl.qj.net/psp/hacks-exploits/tim ... e-v01.html

DCv7 Install - http://dl.qj.net/psp/homebrew-applicati ... io-v7.html

DCv8 Install - http://dl.qj.net/psp/homebrew-applicati ... io-v8.html

1.50 OFW - http://rapidshare.com/files/139611825/150.PBP

3.40 OFW - http://rapidshare.com/files/139614634/340.PBP

360.PSAR - I can't include this file for legal reasons, you shold be able to find it by Googling "360.psar download", it should be about 17 MB. You need this file to install 1.50 w/ 3.40 HW Modules and 3.60 M33.

4.01 OFW - http://rapidshare.com/files/139616118/401.PBP

5.00 OFW - http://rapidshare.com/files/154173870/500.PBP

Pandora Elf Menu v0.3a - http://ruyor.comxa.com/tutorials/pandor ... nu_03a.rar

---Installing the TimeMachine Firmwares---

Unrar "timemachine_0.1.rar"

Copy the folder "TIMEMACHINE" to "X:/PSP/GAME" (X = your PSP's drive letter)

Copy the following files to X:/
150.PBP
340.PBP
360.PSAR

You only have to install the firmwares you want or can use, so if you don't want or can't use a certain firmware, skip to the next one ;) (Refer to the Compatibility section above for which firmwares will work on which system)

Run "Time Machine"
Image

"Install iplloader on PSP MS boot sector"
Image

"Press X to return to main menu"
Image

"Install 1.50 (PHAT)"
Image

"Press X to return to main menu"
Image

"Install 1.50 with 3.40 hw modules (PHAT&SLIM)"
Image

"Press X to return to main menu"
Image

"Install 3.40 OE (PHAT)"
Image

"Press X to return to main menu"
Image

"Install 3.60 M33 (SLIM)"
Image

"Press X to return to main menu"
Image

Exit TimeMachine
Image

You should now be able to fully shutdown your PSP and reboot into different firmwares by holding the following buttons while turning it on:

Firmware-----------------------------| Buttons
=============================|==============
1.50 OFW ----------------------------| X
=============================|==============
1.50 OFW w/ 3.40 HW Modules----| O
=============================|==============
3.40 OE-A-----------------------------| Triangle
=============================|==============
3.60 M33------------------------------| Square
=============================|==============

Refer to the Compatibility section for what firmwares will boot on which PSP

You can now delete 150.PBP, 340.PBP, and 360.PSAR from your memstick.

---Installing DCv7---

Unrar "despertar7.rar"

Copy the folder "DC7" to "X:/PSP/GAME" (X = your PSP's drive letter)

Copy 401.PBP to X:/

Make sure to set your theme to "Original" or "Classic"

Run "Despertar del Cementerio v7.77"
Image

"Press X to begin the installation"
Image

After installation, hold a button(s) to boot DCv7
Image

Then press X to exit
Image

You can now delete 401.PBP from your memstick.

---Modding DCv7 to boot directly into Test M33---

Connect your memstick to your computer

Unrar "pandora_elf_menu_03a.rar"

Find the file "resurrection.prx" in "X:\TM\DC7\kd" (X = your PSP's Drive letter)

Re-name it to "resurrection.prx.orig"

In the folder "pandora_elf_menu_03a\kd" on your computer, you will find a "resurrection.elf" file, re-name this file to "resurrection.prx" and place it in "X:\TM\DC7\kd" (X = your PSP's Drive letter)

You will get a BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death) on the first boot of 4.01 M33-2, just press O and reset everything

You now have 4.01 M33-2 as a TM firmware!
Image

---Installing DCv8---

Unzip "dc8.zip"

Copy the folder "dc8" (the one with the eboot in it) to "X:/PSP/GAME" (X = your PSP's drive letter)

Copy 500.PBP to X:/

Make sure your theme is set to "Original" or "Classic"

Run "Despertar del Cementerio v8"
Image

"Press X to begin the installation"
Image

After installation, hold a button to boot DCv8
Image

Then press X to exit
Image

You can now delete 500.PBP from your memstick.

---Modding DCv8 to boot directly into Test M33---

Connect your memstick to your computer

Unrar "pandora_elf_menu_03a.rar"

Find the file "resurrection.prx" in "X:\TM\DC8\kd" (X = your PSP's Drive letter)

Re-name it to "resurrection.prx.orig"

In the folder "pandora_elf_menu_03a\kd" on your computer, you will find a "resurrection.elf" file, re-name this file to "resurrection.prx" and place it in "X:\TM\DC8\kd" (X = your PSP's Drive letter)

You will get a BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death) on the first boot of 5.00 M33-4, just press O and reset everything

You now have 5.00 M33-4 as a TM firmware!
Image

---Configuring Everything to Work Correctly---

Go to "X:\TM\" on your memstick, you will find a "config.txt" file, open it and you should see something like this:

Code: Select all

DOWN = "/TM/DC8/ipl.bin";
UP+L = "/TM/DC7/ipl.bin";
CROSS = "/TM/150/ipl.bin";
CIRCLE = "/TM/150_340/ipl.bin";
TRIANGLE = "/TM/340OE/ipl.bin";
SQUARE = "/TM/360M33/ipl.bin";
UP = "/TM/pandora.bin";
Rename that file to "configorig.txt" and download this one (or you can make your own), this is my personal config.txt that is setup to use only your left hand to hold buttons which makes it easier to hold buttons while turning it on:
TMConfig.zip
(211 Bytes) Downloaded 231 times
It looks like this:

Code: Select all

L+UP = "/TM/DC7/ipl.bin";
UP = "/TM/DC8/ipl.bin";
RIGHT = "/TM/340OE/ipl.bin";
L = "/TM/150/ipl.bin";
LEFT = "/TM/150_340/ipl.bin";
DOWN = "/TM/360M33/ipl.bin";
NOTHING = "NAND";
Here is what it translates to:

Firmware-----------------------------| Buttons
=============================|===================
1.50 OFW ----------------------------| L Trigger
=============================|===================
1.50 OFW w/ 3.40 HW Modules----| D-Pad Left
=============================|===================
3.40 OE-A-----------------------------| D-Pad Right
=============================|===================
3.60 M33------------------------------| D-Pad Down
=============================|===================
4.01 M33-2----------------------------| L Trigger + D-Pad Up
=============================|===================
5.00 M33-4----------------------------| D-Pad Up
=============================|===================

This concludes the super-long "Installing TimeMachine & DCv7&8 as TM Firmwares" tutorial. Enjoy the ability to boot into different firmwares at the hold of a button :D

hey ruyor

im having a lot of truble getting the ELF menu from maxconsoles, was hopin u maby had another link for it? :? :?

ps. all the OFW links are "dud", maby u could just redirect them to psp-hacks, i think they got em all exept for 3.60 of corse ;)

Edit ... Nevermind, found em another place but found out i didnt even need em for my needs, lol ... anyway thanx for this awsome guide, it gave me some ideas, so i did a little hex editing in some files, and came up with this ... i am now able to have, Hellcats recoveryflasher, GEN D3, 5.00 M33 and 4.01 pandora menus on top of the 6 diffrent TM FW ... if u want the edited files u can just send me a pm ;)

Google is your friend, also, wrong thread.
You can only play ISOs of games you own, so just use the UMDs.
