I have one of these Vita's (a 1004 version) that unfortunately is running firmware version 3.61. The system for all intents and purposes works normally except when trying to start a game then it trows error: c1-7080-5
I have of course done the reset formatting of the device (via safe mode etc, even with a Sony help desk person attempting to fix this only to give up and state that this was not a device ment for consumers) and memory card etc but none of this seems to have any effect on the little red bar in the right bottom corner that says "manufacturing mode"
The only other thing to note is that the device is 100% identical to my other 1004 version vita with the exception of the text NOT FOR SALE on the back to the right of the Sony logo.
I have seen mention of this mode in some support information from a third party company that stated that these were rare manufacturing mistakes packing the wrong units in consumer boxes, but Sony supposedly would take them back and replace them with a "good" unit at least in the US.
At this point I am thinking its most likely just a brick, but it would be cool if someone new what this thing was or how to maybe get out of this funky mode its in.
