Ps Vita Version 3.18 or 3.51?

Post by LoneZ » Tue Jul 14, 2015 9:58 am

I currently have a vita 1000 which is version 3.18 (TN-V 10 Skatepark City), but I bought a game on the psn store which requires 3.50 :/ and now with the 'Rejuvenate' thing which I have no clue what it's mostly about. So is it better to upgrade to 3.50? or would it be better to keep on 3.18 and hope for better exploits to come.

Rejuvenate is actual Vita homebrew. Everything before Rejuvenate (TN-V, ARK, VHBL) has just been PSP homebrew.

3.18 has VHBL, TN-V, ARK, TN-X, Custom PSP Bubbles, Package Installer, Webkit (if that's still being worked on), the memcard write trick, and Rejuvenate.

3.50 has VHBL, TN-V (a broken port), ARK, the memcard write trick, and Rejuvenate.

3.51 has the memcard write trick and Rejuvenate as of this post, but VHBL may be possible soon if you have an EU PSN.

3.52 only has the memcard write trick as of this post, but VHBL may be possible soon if you have an EU PSN.

3.18 is by far the best firmware for users right now when it comes to hacks. If you really want to play that new game and don't mind losing some advantages of 3.18 (namely TN-X, Bubbles, Webkit, Package Installer, and fully working TN-V is what you'd lose access to by updating), then 3.50 is the best out of the 3.5x firmwares.

I see. Well mainly I use TN-V but I realised it's quite buggy sometimes. I guess in would just switch back to my old PSP. As for bubbles I didn't really know how to use it lol. Same for pkg installer, I can't get it to detect my files :/ Though I hope someone ports WTF since I play that a lot with my vita lol.

Yeah I had QCMA but I don't really get how to use it. I set my destination to the folder with the pkg files and then I open up pkg installer?

I would never give up 3.18/3.20. That is just me though.

The only thing I dislike about 3.18 is where new games required higher versions, and also I was lucky to get tn-v as the exploit games are hardly asia games. Also if I do update to 3.50, it's better to format the memory card right? Due to the psp files being inside.

Keep it on 3.18 and get another Vita when you reach critical mass of new games requiring firmwares 3.30+. Even if you update to 3.5x, you will still face the same problem with games requiring firmware 3.6x (or whatever) in the future, except that you'll have to choose between Rejuvenate and even newer games.
Not to mention that you will still need a PS3 to transfer PSN content to outdated Vita, be it 3.18 or 3.5x, and this requirement can only be circumvented by up-to-date Vita (and using QCMA for backup-restore transfers instead).

If you absolutely must play that game ASAP and don't have the funds for another Vita, trade/sell 3.18 one to someone who's going to put it to good use and get a 3.3x-3.51 one for yourself.

Well to transfer PSN I used a friend's vita since I don't own a ps3 and none of my friend does :/
Also I don't really want to sell/trade since I prefer the 1000 (which is hard to find nowadays) over the 2000.
But the thing is I don't find it worth keep on 3.18 (for me at least) since I don't really use things like custom bubbles, pkg installer. Then since people are already making emulators for Rejuvenate, I guess it's kinda worth updating. I know that 3.18 is better since it has more possibilities but I just can't decided since you may never know, the next day someone could come up with an version spoofer or something :/ Or run newer games without those updates.
