About Playstation TV Compatibility

Post by X-death » Sun Nov 16, 2014 1:52 pm

Hi all,

I know i'm new in this board but after a search i don't find any info about my question.

I want to understand some thing about the Sony Playstation TV compatibility.
The hardware seems to be the same as the Playstation Vita : same processor and same graphical units but without some feature like microphone, camera, or gyroscopic.

So why some Vita game are compatible and other aren't.
According to the official compatiiblity list , lots of game are not compatible with PSTV but also game that don't use any extra feature so... why ?

Did you know how the compatibility check works ?
Its in the PSTV kernel witch have a game database inside ? , or it's the software who check some hardware info ?
I have read that some game have been patched for works in the PSTV so the protection are just in the game ?

So maybe in a future ISO game could be patched ( or custom firmware) could increase the PSTV compatibility ?

Thanks a lot for your futur reply

It is believed to be a whitelist that is hosted on Sony's servers, and sent to the device with updates if needed.
All of this is encrypted of course so there is not much you can do. We all agree that the device should support more than what Sony actually makes it support, but there's no easy way to make this happen, besides complaining loudly to Sony until they use a blacklist instead of a whitelist
If you need US PSN Codes, this technique is what I recommend.

So basically, the Talkman Travel Tokyo exploit won't work on the PSTV because the game is not compatible with the system?

Thanks a lot for your reply 8-) .
So if i understand correctly that mean all commercial and digital game + apps have an unique ID.
The console have a whitelist of these ID and can update it with Firmware update.
So the game ID are in the FW Console and in the gameitself.

When the console launch a game/app it will read the app ID and compare it with it's own Whitelist.
So we have two choice for increase the console compatibility:

-Wait for a modified custom firmware
-Find and remplace Game ID
