why? just use half the screen :/
But I wasn't talking about how the two screens will be distributed. I was talking about how the stereoscopic 3D will be emulated on the upper half of the screen.
Do you even understand how the 3D on the 3DS works?

Exactly so you know you can't emulate that hardware in software.

That's exactly what I was trying to say!

Actually, I have a feeling that this should be possible using image manipulation but it'll probably be so complex and resource draining that it'll be pointless to even try.

Let me just chime in and state that NO, a playable will NEVER HAPPEN.
EVER.
I've heard this same bs before back in high school when the PSP first launched and my PSP fanboy friends insisted that the PSP could easily emulate a DS seamlessly and all they needed to do was wait. Well guess what? Not ONE was ever produced in it's life time that could run anything even REMOTELY playable.
Honestly I don't even think there's a competent DS emulator for tablets out yet (at least not one that's stable), so what are the odds that the Vita could even run a 3DS emulator?
It's one thing to dream but seriously guys, just let this notion die and fester.

I was actually thinking the same thing, not the tablet`s DS emulator though mostly the PSP`s DS emulator. Currently the emulator for the PSP doesn`t run for me but I`ve seen some videos of it going somewhat decent. I think the real question isn`t can the Vita with a native hack emulate 3DS BUT can a natively hacked Vita emulate DS roms.

Is it even feasible? You'd have to hold the Vita vertically, and button access would be awkward and uncomfortable.

No, it's never possible, just like having a xbox360 emulator on a PS3 isn't neither. Thus doesn't even exist. lol

Why vertically?
Just display the 2 screens next to each other, so you have at the left side, the upper screen, and at the right side the lower screen.
Thats much better to play, even at the PC i recommend to emulate the DS screens not vertically, but from left to right, next to each other.
