There is a very simple exploit for 1.50 that allows you to launch homebrew games & applications straight from the XMB. Google "1.50 kxploit for more information". The only problem is that DC8 only works on custom firmwares with a kernel version above 2.0.GZed wrote:I think I'm misunderstanding something here. OFW 1.50 's lack of compatibility with modern games makes it essentially useless, doesn't it?Wololo wrote:If it's an official sony battery, then yes.
You should be able to create the battery with your 1.50 psp, by the way... a corrupted idstorage doesn't mean you can't use the PSP at all...
Are you saying that my working Phat, that's stuck on OFW 1.50, can still run the apps I need to make the Pandora battery? I was under the impression that OFW did not run any "homebrew" style apps.

My old Phat (with the dodgy joystick) is running OFW_620 and TN Hen-E 6.20, so I'm guessing I can use this to make the Pandora battery needed to fix the other Phat stuck on OFW_150.Salmon wrote:There is a very simple exploit for 1.50 that allows you to launch homebrew games & applications straight from the XMB. Thanks Salmon (& everyone else) for all these helpful tips.

I believe so, yes.GZed wrote: Are you saying that my working Phat, that's stuck on OFW 1.50, can still run the apps I need to make the Pandora battery?
This is slightly incorrect. Most OFW can run homebrew through the use of hacks. CFW is not needed to run homebrews, it just makes running homebrews easier.I was under the impression that OFW did not run any "homebrew" style apps.
Firmware 1.50 is an exception to this rule: it can run Homebrews out of the box, without any hack.
If you need US PSN Codes, this technique is what I recommend.

Yep, however do try running KeyCleaner first. I've compiled KeyCleaner for 1.50 and uploaded it here. Extract it and follow the instructions in the readme.
Re: Cannot upgrade 1.50 to 6.20. DRNFFFFFFCD error
Thanks a lot for doing that Salmon. I am having a slight problem with it though.Salmon wrote:do try running KeyCleaner first. I've compiled KeyCleaner for 1.50 and uploaded it
I have tried multipule times (without the Pandora battery) and had no sucess. KeyCleaner does load to the motherboard detection screen. It detects it as a TA-082/86, which seems to be correct becaue I have IC1003 printed upside down on the motherboard. The problem is that when I press X to analyise the keys, nothing happens until about 10 seconds later when the PSP turns itself off. Same with when I press SQUARE.
Am I doing something wrong? Do I perhaps need the Pandora battery for this to work?
Re: Cannot upgrade 1.50 to 6.20. DRNFFFFFFCD error
I gave up on the KeyCleaner method due to the problem described in the previous post.
Instead, I went on to make myself a Pandora batery and a Magic Memery stick, using the links to instuctions and downloads provided earlier in this thread.
I then started my PSP with my Pandora battery and MMS and then select the IDstorage option. This fixed my problem. Iwas then able to update to 6.20 OFW successfully.
Thanks very much to everyone for all your help. I couldn't have done it without you.

Awesome to know it worked, thanks a lot for taking the time to post your results

Re: Cannot upgrade 1.50 to 6.20. DRNFFFFFFCD error
why to to 6.xx anything? i would love to have 5.00 m33
Re: Cannot upgrade 1.50 to 6.20. DRNFFFFFFCD error
Firstly, some games simply don't work with a 5.xx custom firmware. Plus, having 6.xx OFW means you very easily change to using whatever Lite CFW you like without risk of bricking or headaches.
If 5.00 m33 works for you then great, but I'm much happier with this setup.

Why lite? PSP 1000 can handle FULL cIPL CFW!GZed wrote:Firstly, some games simply don't work with a 5.xx custom firmware. Plus, having 6.xx OFW means you very easily change to using whatever Lite CFW you like without risk of bricking or headaches.
