Cannot upgrade 1.50 to 6.20. DRNFFFFFFCD error

Post by GZed » Tue Jul 26, 2011 11:58 am

Hi all,

My first post here so please go easy on me if I come off as Noobish.

History of my unit:

I have a PSP-1002 (Phat) that was running a CFW, something like 3.71, when I got it. Today I successfully upgrade that to 5.00-M33 and then 550-GEN-D3 using Hellcats rflash. After that I was having trouble loading my ISO's with the built in ISO loader and PrometheusIsoLoader (it just rebooted everytime I tried), so I decided to install 6.20 TN-E instead, which I have had great success with on a couple of other newer PSP's we have.

At this point I used rflash again to restore back to OFW 1.50, which seemed to go fine and I can now boot the PSP with OFW 1.50 installed. This was in prepartion for installing OFW 6.20.

The Problem:

Now when I try to install OFW 6.20 (or any other OFW) over the existing OFW 1.50, I get a failure message and error code DRNFFFFFFCD. On top of that I cannot run rflash anymore, by holding down the right shoulder button during start-up, maybe because 1.50 does not support this feature.

I have done some research and found that this error code relates to something like a patched key. An app called KeyCleaner, made by chilly willy, is suppose to fix it, but I cannot run that either because I'm running official firmware now.
Links to KeyCleaner info:

I think I'm scr..ed. Does anyone know how I can get out of this mess?

Thanks in advance.

Use a pandora Battery and a magic memory stick with Despertar Del Cementerio 8. It has an option to entirely regenerate those keys (Create new idstorage), which in my case fixed a similar problem on my phat (ta 82).
If you need US PSN Codes, this technique is what I recommend.

Hi Wololo!

Thanks heaps for taking the time to help me out. I currently do not have a Pandora battery but I'll get one asap and give your suggestion a try.

I also have a dead Phat PSP here with a good battery in it. Can I make my own Pandora battery with this spare one, or am I better off buying one online?

Once again, thank you. I greatly appreciate your advice.

When I say I have a dead phat, its actually usable (just needs a new analogue stick), so I could probably use this to make my own Pandora battery.

Thanks for the tip XxGodOfWar2xX.

If it's an official sony battery, then yes.
You should be able to create the battery with your 1.50 psp, by the way... a corrupted idstorage doesn't mean you can't use the PSP at all...

There is a good tutorial on creating a pandora battery and MMS here. Some of the download links are broken so here are working ones:
- Despertar del Cementerio v8
- Open Source Pandora Battery Tool
- 5.00 Firmware EBOOT

I think I'm misunderstanding something here. OFW 1.50 's lack of compatibility with modern games makes it essentially useless, doesn't it?

Are you saying that my working Phat, that's stuck on OFW 1.50, can still run the apps I need to make the Pandora battery? I was under the impression that OFW did not run any "homebrew" style apps.
