if you get a pandora, plug it in and the green light comes on, then its NOT a ta-088v3, and if not then it is ... easy as that ... case solved! ;)
Yeah, I would do that too, except if you've got enough money to buy another PSP. You can try PSP Ident too. It will give you more information about your PSP. Besides, why do you want to downgrade to 3.95??

You have a TA-088v3, NOT a v1. Recovery Flasher doesn't lie. The lowest you can go is 4.01, and there is no good reason to go lower than 5.03 on a TA-088v3.

If you still need convincing that you have a TA-088v3, run PSPIdent.

Actually v3 does light green led as well when you plug pandora battery in. You will need pandora battery and magic MS that was confirmed working on other console. If it won't boot on yours than its TA88v3.

Looks like it does. The serial numbers on my PSP say clearly that it's a v1. Plus, my first firmware was 3.95 for sure, as it didn't have any of the features of 4.01.
PSPIdent shows a v3 as well, but how can it be?

2 programs that can identify your mobo say you have a TA-088v3, you have a TA-088v3. The serial# method isn't perfect, and TA-088v1 mobos didn't come with 3.95 anyway (that was v2), and there aren't many people that could remember the exact firmware their PSP came with. But if you're so convinced that your PSP has a TA-088v1, get a pandora kit running DCv8 and try it.

... even tho we propebly do know the outcome of it, this guy clearly does not want to listen to any kind of reson from anyone ... lets just hang back and see what happends when he downgrades below what is recommended ... ether we will be very surpprised, or we will (properbly) say i told you so ... ;)

I do want to listen to any kind of reason, it's just that I don't get it (I mean the situation). I'll give it to my friend, who has a pandora, and he'll check whether it's a v3. Can v3 have a lower FW than 4.01?

4.01 is the first firmware with the newer IPL that's compatible with the updated checks on the TA-088v3, installing anything lower than 4.01 will have the same result as installing CFW on a TA-088v3 (brick).
