Downgrading to 4.01

Post by SunnyAutumn » Mon May 02, 2011 3:20 pm

Hey, guys!
I have a ta088v3 (I think)
My question is, can I downgrade to 4.01? I remember that when I bought it it was either 4.01 or 4.21. It did NOT have the "Internet Search" function in "Network" menu.

TA-088v3s are able to run 4.01 since that's what they came with originally, but why would you want to risk it to go to 4.01?

The thing is, I didn't have internet search and that magnifying glass icon in my browser. I also didn't have any full-screen keyboard, so it means I have a ta088v1 (of course if I remember everything right). Can it be so, that mobo ident homebrew is sometimes fooled by v1/2/3? Because it's almost the same mobo, only with added security measures.
And also. I have a PB and my friends has a CW. We bought our PSPs almost at the same time, December 2008.
Maybe I could try downgrading to 3.95? If I can't, it will give me a sign, right? I once fooled with the 2.60 LCS umd update, and it showed that data was corrupted.
What do you guys think? Should I risk?

I thought that the only risk in downgrading is while the power down (battery/ac) ?

Isn't it just the same level of risk like in normal upgrade ?

And is there a way to find out what fw was originally installed on the PSP?

EDIT: Oh, and when was the search button added to the PSP web browser?

EDIT2: And is there a way to downgrade to 3.95? Recovery Flasher says I have a ta088v3, but I am sure that I have a v1!

TA88v3 comes with 4.01 preinstalled. Together with info from recovery flasher it is more than enough to say you have v3 for sure.

if you are certain that its hackable, then why dont you get your self a pandora battery and make sure ... before you make an irrecoverble brick
if that works you could theoreticly install a 3.60 ;)

if you get a pandora, plug it in and the green light comes on, then its NOT a ta-088v3, and if not then it is ... easy as that ... case solved! ;)
