Sound problem

Hey all. My psp sound doesnt work for any games. Either ones copied to memory card or UMDs. When I quit a game and I scroll through the menu I get some sound. After I scroll past one item the sound disappears. The buttons seem to work because when I press the volume buttons I see the voume menu pop up on screen but no sound is working. Any ideas?
