Latest OFW for PSP Go?

Post by pedrito » Tue May 03, 2016 10:45 am

Where does one get the latest firmware appropriate for the PSP Go?

Sony's site for System Software Upgrades offers a single downloadable for 6.61 seemingly appropriate for all PSP models, the md5 of which is 6be8878f475ac5b1a499b95ab2f7d301. On the contrary, this reporsitory of official firmwares has one for non-Go models, with the same md5 as Sony's, and one for Go models, with md5 fd0f7d0798b4f6e6d32ef95836740527.

I was intending to follow hackinformer's guide to install 6.61 PRO-C2 as a Temporary CFW and it instructs to download the latest Official Firmware 6.61. Which one should I install on my PSP Go? If the one from Sony's page is good for all PSP including PSP Go models, where did the one purportedly specific to Go models come from and how is it different?

My PSP Go is on 6.60.

You do not address my concern of how come Sony instead provides a single firmware for all PSP models, including the Go, in the page linked above, which is also the same firmware that Hackinformer's guide to hack the PSP Go links to, and which is different from the one you provide

Where does this Go-only firmware come from then if Sony is providing a single one for all PSP models?

Because as par for Sony they messed up the top link is for any model besides Go.
Go down the page find download for go and you will see it is of different size.

Indeed! I see now that there is a separate download specific for Go models below in the page in the download instructions. Thanks!

Yeah I also agree it's a poor layout but could a PSP Go actually install the non-go specific firmware? I'd imagine it would error out before it actually installed. If it didn't that is super scummy of Sony.
