Strange hang bug with the Inferno driver in CFW

Post by banana » Mon Mar 14, 2016 12:14 am

Hi, I have this issue it's driving me nuts :(

I've been using a PSP Go with PRO CFW 6.60 C2 with the inferno driver working ok for years.
But recently, sleep+resume while using the Inferno or NP9660 drivers the will very often hang (maybe 4 out of 5 times), needing to force power off.
This is just the regular sleep funtion, not the PSP Go's "hibernate" save.

HOWEVER this *doesn't* happen with the M33 driver. So I can still play but it's kinda gimped...

Tested with the inferno driver (sleep for a while + resume, a few times until I could confirm if it hangs or not):
- playing normally without using sleep: doesn't seem to hang
- different games: hangs (even games that would work before)
- games on the internal memory or memory stick: both hang
- reformatting internal memory/memory stick: hangs
- turning on stuff (wifi, isocache, etc): hangs
- installing the latest release (660_PRO-C2_14-02-2015): still hangs
- resuming at different intervals: hangs (ex. five minutes or two hours, doesn't matter)
- sleep/resume at various points of the game: no effect, hangs even on title screens
- sleep/resume in the PSP main menu: *won't* hang (no ISO = no hang?)
- emulators: don't seem to hang (perhaps the driver isn't rereading data on resume?)
- disabling all plugins: hangs (I only have one anyway)

Maybe anecdotal evidence but this started happening after a day I overused the sleep/resume in short spans.
Anything special the drivers are doing during sleep/restore that maybe got corrupted or that I could try?
I looked around but I don't think anything similar to this is mentioned...

I have *not* tried to upgrade to 6.61, maybe that'll rewrite something that would help?

Any idea guys? :(

Mind trying either 6.60/6.61 LME/PRO then trying again?
If it also happens in 6.60 LME or any 6.61 CFW then it might be a problem with your system.

Thanks for the idea! I uninstalled PRO and installed LME and did some tests.

The Inferno/NP9660 drivers hangs after sleep, same :/
The ME/M33 drivers seem to work fine.

I guess I'll stick with LME + ME driver for now.
(I used Inferno for the compatibility, and I understand the ME driver is similar).

Still, very strange the Inferno/NP9660 drivers stopped working properly for no reason :(
Whatever these drivers are doing after wakeup, my system doesn't like now...
Maybe I'll try updating the OFW to 6.61 and see if they are fixed.

Not sure whats happening but it sounds like a hardware issue or something is messed up in flash maybe? IDK.
